Food challenge contest week #36||how to make crunchy chin-chin by @rossnenye
Welcome back to my blog. Today I will be teaching the kids and kids lovers how to make crunchy fried chin-chin.
ABOUT CHIN-CHIN
Chin-chin is a deep fried snack enjoyed and eaten by everyone especially kids. It can be equally baked. The fried chin chin has a golden brown colour, while baked chin chin has a white colour. Almost everyone is a lover of chin-chin. Nigerians call it chin chin whereas Ghanaians call it achomo. There is no kids party without chin- chin. The steps are very easy.
INGREDIENTS
1kg of all purpose flour.
Butter 250g
1 cup of granulated sugar.
I piece of egg. This is optional, it only makes the chin-chin softer.
A pinch of salt
1 table spoon of baking soda, you can equally use baking powder.
Vanilla flavor.
Milk flavour.
Vegetable oil for frying.
Water for mixing.
PROCEDURE
Beat your egg and keep aside.
To a big bowl add your flour and other dry ingredients together and mix them.
Add butter to the mixture, mix it thoroughly with your hand until it looks like breadcrumbs.
Add egg to the mixture.
Add water gradually to the mixture.
Use your hand to knead it until you form a dough.
Spread flour on a flatten surface and on the rolling pin so that the chin-chin does not gum together.
Put the dough in the flatten surface and use the rolling pin to flatten the dough. You can improvise with a clean bottle.
With a clean knife, cut the chin-chin to your desired shape.
Add groundnut oil to the frying pan, allow it to get hot before adding your chin-chin so that your chin-chin does not get soggy.
Fry until it appears golden brown
Put it in a sieve so that it doesn't soak oil.
CONCLUSION
This is the end of my tutorial. I hope you guys learnt one or two things from this tutorial. It can be eaten alone but better served with a bottle of chilled drink.
