DlY sunhat by @raysdesign |pay out 10% to steemkidss
Greeting to all kids lovers,am so elated to be participating in this contest,i want to thank @ngoenyi for organizing this contest.
I want to guide us on how to make a beautiful and very simple sunhat, for some of us that visit the beach often this should be of great help to us.
Things necessary to make a sunhat
1. A cardboard or firm paper
2. Ankara fabric
3.scissor
Procedure
Step1: fold the cardboard into two and then into four as shown below.
place your tape at the peak and measure 12inches all round and cut it out.
Still put your tape at the peak and measure
4inches and cut it out.
You will cut out a band of 11 inches although it depends on the measurement of a person's head.
This will serve as a pattern to guide you through, after you are done cutting it out place the pattern on your fabric and cut it out.
Am using two different fabrics so that means i could wear any part that i like.
Step 2:in order for the brim to be firm you have to gum one part of the ankara( it is called interfacing ) with hard paper gum,it will give firm to the fabric, use the other side as as sort of linning or main fabric since it is going to be a two face sunhat.
Step 3:you turn the interfacing of the brim with the other ankara by sowing it on the on the sowing machine and then turn it over, iron it to make it flat
Step4: is the crown sow half inch of the band
The circle (i.e the 4inches)you cut out of the brim is what you will use to sow to the band
this is the crown |
Step 5:put the other crown that does not have hard paper gum inside the one that has
this is the crown without the papergum |
---|
Step 6:pin the crown to the brim in a circular motion and then sow it on the sowing machine and then turn it out.
This is the final result.
I want to invite @madilyn02 and @emidolling to participate in this contest
