Update #6: Writing Expedition||Health: Depression

Good day @steemkidss and all steemians. This is my first writing expedition and I hope to make the best of it. I believe this expedition will help my writing skills, think outside the box and educate or enlighten you on various topics.

HEALTH

Today's topic is between Nature and Health. I choose to write on health because teenagers like me, and even adults are going through a lot, which sometimes they don't even know. It eats you up, then the next thing we hear is suicide. Accordingly to WHO(World Health Organization statistics, "about one million people commit suicide everyday in the world, that is about 3000 everyday. This is really saddening. There a various causes of suicide and one of the most common ones is "Depression" which is what I'll be writing on today.

DEPRESSION

I define Depression as an extreme feeling of loneliness, sadness or the feeling that you're unloved and not wanted. It begins in the brain. It happens mentally first before it begins to show physically.

SOME FACTORS OF DEPRESSION INCLUDE::

•Family problems or Conflict
•Negative thinking
•Drugs and pills
•Childhood Trauma
•Genetic history
•Critical Medical Conditions
These are just a few out of many.

Who can go through depression?

Lots of teenagers and adults are going through depression. Even children can go through depression. It isn't limited to age or size. Anyone can go through depression.
SYMPTOMS OF DEPRESSION

💔 Incompetence feeling
💔 Frequent anger without cause
💔Sudden feeling of sadness, emptiness or hopelessness.
💔Sudden lack of sexual interest
💔Loss of interest in activities which were fun to you before
💔Delayed or slow responses during conversation
💔 Difficulty in sleeping
💔 Weight loss
💔 Difficulty in concentration
💔 Finding pleasure in self injury or self harm.
💔 Reoccurring thoughts about death or suicide
If you've noticed at least 4 of these symptoms then you should check yourself again. You're slowly heading down the depression road. And it's deadly. Depression can jeopardize your social, physical, emotional and even spiritual life. It is okay to feel sad or down at certain points in our lives but when it becomes frequent, we have to act on it fast.
HOW TO OVERCOME DEPRESSION

💜First of all, you have to identify the problem. Admit that you're depressed and you really want to get out of it. You want to live your normal cheerful life again.
💜Look for the cause of the problem; the depression. How did it start? What happened? What triggered it?
💜If you prefer talking about it then consult a trusted adult about your problem. Preferably a person who wouldn't judge you or start asking unnecessary questions
💜You could also meet a therapist. This person hasn't met you before so...you can be sure there'll be no judgement. Open up to the therapist so you can be helped.
💜Make a decision to be happy. Make a decision to come out of that depressing shell.
💜Act on your decision. It's one thing to say something, but it's another thing to do it. Follow the steps given to you by the trusted adult or therapist.

Not everyone likes taking to people about their problems or issues. I understand. Which is why I'll be giving some steps which you can use to overcome depression by yourself. I call it "Self Therapy".
💚 Exercise: You can do home exercise or go for yoga classes to relax your brain and also, it'll be a good place to regain your social balance. Meet new people, talk to them, make friends.
💚Avoid alcohol and drugs: People want to get high and forget about their problems but they forget that these substances only work temporarily. If you want to overcome depression then you need to stay away from them because you need a long lasting solution.
💚 Light Therapy: A certain amount of exposure to white light can help in brightening up your mood. Try it and see.
💚Make yourself your priority. Get enough food and water, get enough sleep and rest. Avoid negative minded people or people going through depression too. They'll just take you back to the depression road.

💚Stay positive. Believe you're the best. And if any day you tried something and it didn't come out well, tell yourself you are a winner, you gave it a try. Everything begins with a try. If you don't try, how will you succeed?.
💚Take natural supplements like Omega-3 fatty acids or Vitamins. Consult your doctor first before this.

I believe you learnt a lot from this post and I hope I was able to help people too.
Depression leads to death. Life is still worth living. When there is life there is hope. And if you ever feel like giving up, remember you are loved in the @steemkidss community.
