Food Challenge Contest Week #141// For Kids and Parents// How to Prepare My Local Meal

INTRODUCTION

Hello steemians of this great community! Good to be here for this week's contest. I hope you're doing well. I come here to present my entry on Food Challenge Contest Week #141//. Thank you @steemkidss for organizing a contest of this kind so as to help me tell the world how my local meal is prepared. In this post, I am going to tell you how to prepare" Afang Soup". Stay tuned and let's go.

Step 1

The first step in preparing my local dish is to get the ingredients: "afang leaves", water leaves, dry stock fish, fresh pepper, periwinkle, grayfish, palm oil, onions, meat, salt, etc.ready. After getting all the ingredients, the next thing is to slice the afang leaves into smallest sizes and then grind it in a grinder. This leaf can be got from personal farm or bought from the market. At least N1000 quantity can be ok (about 4 steems). Most people grind it in the market. But I prefer grinding mine in my personal grinder for hygienic purpose.

Another important leaf like I said is water leaf. Wash your water leaf well and then slice it as well.

Step 2

The next step in preparation of this meal is to place your pot on fire, putting first, the sliced water leaf, two cubes of maggi, grinded fresh pepper, sliced onions,salt, palm oil.

These ingredients are put first with water leaf and allowed to cook for about ten minutes to prepare a foundation for the soup. After allowing to cook for ten minutes, you can add other ingredients like steam meat, dry fish, etc.

Step 3

The next step is to add your grinded afang leaves, and then turn to compact the ingredients. This is the last step in cooking this soup. After five minutes of adding this ingredient, the soup is done. After adding this grinded leaves, the soup shouldn't be left for so long on fire so as not to kill the green chlorophyll in the leaves. It time to bring down your soup from fire.

This local soup can be served with prepared garri or pounded yam..

Food is ready.

Although this local meal is not really difficult to prepare, the nutrients in it are very essential for the body needs. The "afang leaf" which is the major ingredient is a good source of fibre and vitamin. The meat, palm oil and other vital ingredients are sources of protein and fat.

This meal can be eaten at any time of the day especially as lunch and supper.
