Drawing Challenge for Kids/ Teach the Kids how to draw by your participation|| Week #1: Draw an ant
Hello amazing members of steemkids community. Hope you all are doing well. I'm glad to participate in this week 1 contest of @ngoenyi in this community with the topic Drawing challenge for Kids/ Teach the kids how to draw by your participation|| Week 1: Draw an ant.
Describe an ant
A critical look at an ant shows that an ant has six legs and it is majorly divided into three segments which includes the head, the middle body and the lower part. There are thousands of species of ants earth wide. You can see ants at anywhere you are. Some ants have wings which means that they can fly while some do not. Ants live in various places. Some live in the ground, some live in the wood, some make a nest with leaves, etc.
For the purpose of this contest, I will be writing more about the carpenter ant. The carpenter ants are usually black in color. The head and lower part is bigger than the middle body. Attached to the head are two antennas with which it normally uses for communication with other ants. Carpenter ants lives mainly in the bush or forest. The ants make their nest inside a wood that is dead, and the ants are in different sizes.
Drawing the carpenter ant
The materials I used are:
- Cardboard paper
- Pencil
- Eraser.
Below are the steps I took.
STEP ONE
I drew the head of the ant which is usually big with pencil on the cardboard paper. The head contains the two antennas that it uses for communication and locating food.
STEP TWO
Then I drew the middle part of the body. This part is always smaller. However it houses the six legs. I drew this part with pencil too.
STEP THREE
The next thing I did was to draw the lower abdomen with pencil. This completes the whole body.
STEP FOUR
Since the carpenter ant is usually black in color, I then shaded it with my pencil. You can see that it is actually beautiful.
What do you like about an ant?
Normally, I do not like ants, but because of this contest I took a closer look at them and discovered the following:
- Ants are always busy, that is they are industrious. They are always working, looking for food.
- They are well organized. Despite that they move in very large numbers, their movements are smooth.
- Ants are resilient. If you destroy their part now, making them to scatter, after sometime, they reorganize themselves and continue their business.
What do you hate about ants?
Below are the reasons why I hate them.
- Because ants are everywhere, once any sweet food item is kept careless, within a couple of minutes, you see it being invaded by ants.
- Ants can bite, and their bites are painful. And the pain can last for a long time due to the poison contained in the bite.
- Sometimes when you kill some ants, they can smell, and their smell can be awful.
Are they important to Man?
Despite the bad side, ants also benefit man.
- Their activities helps in enriching the soil nutrients thereby improving farm yield.
- Some ants serve as food for man and they are tasty when they are fried.
- They also help in easy decomposition of dead matters in the soil, making the soil more fertile.
Conclusion
In as much as I hate to see ants, the fact remains that they are beneficial to man and his environment.
I am inviting the following persons @brendalisa01, @obysuccess, @jizzymendez to participate in the contest.
