Herbs have been used for so many years now even before I came to this world, I believe our grandparents were lovers of herbs because of their healthy benefits and culinary properties.

In those years I don't think there was any medical report or issues because this people uses her on their daily Life. So today I will be participating in steemit engagement challenge season 21 week 3.

Recipe Creation: Create a meal or recipe using at least 3 herbs which are commonly found in your area and explain the health benefits of each herb in the recipe.

In my area, three herbs that are commonly found and which people are familiar with are garlic, ginger, and turmeric. These herbs that I mentioned above does not only add flavor to our dishes but also provide good healthy benefits to the body.

I use the three herbs to make stew for the family. I am a lover of herbs and I love adding them to my recipes, I can't remember the last time I use artificial herbs for cooking. Even my family knows that I love using herb

GARLIC

Garlic is one of the herbs I love using in almost all my cooking because of sweet flavor and aroma. Not all that know that garlic contains allicin, it is one of the antibacterial and antiviral properties that help in boosting immune system. Another healthy benefits of garlic is that it reducing cholesterol levels and it also help lowering blood pressure.

GINGER

Ginger is another one of the herb that is mostly used for its spicy and warm flavor in my area. It was discover that it contains gingerol, which is bioactive compound that has been found to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It is also known for its ability to help in digestion and it reduces nausea.

TURMERIC

Turmeric is another herbs that is commonly used in my area is a vibrant yellow herb that has this bitter taste. It contains curcumin, which is a compound that has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. It is one of the traditional medicine that is use to treat various ailments such as arthritis and digestive issues.

In my stew recipe, I add turmeric powder so that it can help in adding that rich color to my stew
I also grate fresh ginger and add it to my pot of stew so that it can give me that sweet flavor. I also added garlic to my stew to add flavor also and all this herbs gives good healthy benefits to my stew.
All this herbs is found everywhere around my environment, a lot of people love using them.

Seasonings does not only add flavor to our meals but its also provide a good healthy benefits to our body system. There is this two popular seasonings in my kitchen that I will love to share with you. They are Atiako and Uyayak spice.

Atiako, is one of the banga spice,it is a traditional West African spice which has a little bitter taste. It is rich in antioxidants, such as vitamin C, which help in boosting our immune system and it's also protect the body against all types of diseases. I have discovered that Atiako has anti-inflammatory properties, which help in reducing inflammation in the body and it reduces symptoms of conditions such as arthritis. When I went on researching I noticed that Atiako has been found to have antimicrobial properties, this property help in fighting off harmful bacteria and promote gut health.

Uyayak spice is another spicy seasoning commonly used in Southeast Asian cuisine. This particular spice contains capsaicin, it is a compound that has so many healthy benefits. Uyayak has been shown to boost metabolism and some people use it as their weight loss recipes because it helps in burning fat. Uyayak has anti-inflammatory properties, which helps in reducing pain and inflammation in conditions such as arthritis. Uyayak is mostly used by mothers that newly given birth because it helps in flushing out bad blood from the system. I have discovered that Uyayak helps in improving heart health and it's helps lowering blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

Herb Identification Challenge: Identify five herbs at a local grocery store or farmer's market, taking photos and writing down their uses, along with how they could be incorporated into cooking.

Some of these herbs are around us, some of us we plant it and some buys from the market so right now I will love to identify five herbs commonly found at local grocery stores around me and I will also state their uses and how they can be incorporated into cooking.

The first herb that I was able to identified is uda seed, also known as Negro pepper. Uda seed is often used in pepper soup because of its peppery flavor and medicinal properties. It has been used traditionally to relieve indigestion,
reduce inflammation, and relieve pain. Uda seed can be used in cooking pepper soup, can be used as spice in steaming your proteins. But it is not advisable for pregnant women and alcer patient.

The second herb which I identify is the garlic, this spice in particular can be seen in almost everybody's kitchen. This spice "garlic" is being known for its healthy benefits and also its strong flavor. As it is known by all of us that this spice is used in boosting the immune system, lower blood pressure and also promote the health of the heart. You can choose to add garlic to your food such as pepper soup, stew, use it as a seasoning and in the cooking of any type of pouridge such as yam, plantain and so on. Garlic can be used in cooking almost any savory dish from stir-fries to pasta sauce.

Ginger being the number three herbs which I mentioned above is really known for how spicy it is and also the automatic flavor which it has and at the same time the medicinal properties .
Ginger as an herbal drug has been used to erase nausea, aid digestion and reduce inflammation.
When cooking with the use of ginger, you can use it in savory dishes and at the same time in sweet dishes such as stir-fries, ginger tea and curries.

The fourth herb I mentioned is called lemon, lemon is really known for its bitter flavor which contain high vitamin C content. They are particularly used in cooking and also baking in order to add the brightness to he dish. They can also be used in making salad dressings, marinades and lemonade.

The fifth herb I lastly mentioned is popularly known as lime, lime has almost the same flavor with that of lemon but with a little more bitter taste. Limes are usually used in southeast Asian cuisine and Mexican to add a good kick to a dish. They are mostly used in cocktail, marinades and ceviche.

Prepare a herbal detox medicine and tell step by step process and how it helps to detoxify the body?

Detoxifying our bodies is an important method in order to make sure that we are off harmful toxin and also chemicals which can lift up over time. One natural and strong method to detoxify our bodies is by the use of herbal remedies. In this write up, I will show you guys how to make a herbal detox medicine by the use of ingredients like Uda seed garlic, ginger, cloves, turmeric, lemon, and limes.

To prepare this detox medicine, you will need the following ingredients:

  • garlic
  • ginger
  • cloves
  • turmeric
  • lemon
  • limes

To begin, peel the garlic, cloves, tumeric and ginger then pound it . In a small pot add a specific measurements of water and then allow it to boil. When the water is boiling, add the pounded things and then let it boil for like ten minutes in order to allow the flavor to mix.

As the mixture is boiling, slice your lemon and lime then add it into the mixture. When you add it, make sure you mix it well. Once it mixed well, let is simmer for more time.

Your herbal detox tea is now ready for consumption. Make sure you drink a cup of the mixture once a day till it teaches a week in order to help your body be detoxify. Garlic is really known for its antioxidant property while ginger makes digestion more easy, cloves with it's antibacterial properties and tumeric with it's powerful anti-inflammatory and lastly limes and lemons with their high level of vitamin C which helps in the boosting of the immune system.

By making use herbal remedies such as this detox medicine, it can be a natural and powerful way to cleanse our bodies from all these harmful toxins. It is necessary to have in mind of our balanced diet and regular exercise regimen in addition to making use of herbal remedies for detoxification.
