Homework post for mathematics Lesson|| Linear equations||

Greetings to you dear members of our beloved community steemkids. It's my delight to be participating in this lesson once again. Thus post will be my homework post for Mathematics lesson taught by @whileponederin.

In the lesson we were able to learn about linear equation and the two forms it appears and also we were given tasks to complete which I'm going to attempt below:

1. What is a linear equation? Give two examples each of a one variable and two variable linear equation.

Linear equations can be defined as an algebraic equation containing one or two variables.
The variable(s) in a linear equation cannot be raised to a power that is greater than one and it cannot be used as a denominator.

Examples of one variable linear equation:
3a + 2 = 20
5b + b = 12

Examples of two variable linear equation:
X - y = 12
4a - 2b = 24

2. Solve the following linear equations:

a. 2x + 7 = 11.
b. 5x - 16 = 24.

Solution for eq. 1

2x + 7 = 11
2x = 11 - 7
2x = 4
X = 4/2
X= 2

Solution for eq. 2

5x - 16 = 24
5x = 24 + 16
5x = 40
X = 40/5
X = 8

3. Classify the following into one- variable linear equation and two variable linear equation.

a. 5x + 2x = 13
b. 16c + 12b = 20
c. 18x + 9y = 0
d. 19 + 2c = 12

Solution

(a)One variable Linear equation
(b) Two variable Linear equation
(c) Two variable Linear equation
(d) One variable Linear equation

4. Is √x + 3 = 12 a linear equation?

The above equation is Non-Linear, because the power of the variable y is not 1 but 1/2
