Greetings wonderful people of this noble community, I hope we are all doing well, Today I will be submitting my entry for this weeks engagement challenge. With the theme “Impacts of Technology in kids”. Personally for Me I think this is a great theme and I can’t wait to get started.
Write an overview of how technology has impacted the world as a whole.
Technology has impacted the world both positively and negatively, I can go on and on about the positive impacts but i think it’s only fair we look at a few negative impacts as well. In the early centuries, when ever people wanted to move from place to place, they would spend months or if possible years walking until they reached their destination. In this era, technology has made it very simple to an extent that such long distances can be covered within a few hours by using an Airplane, Ships, Cars, and even motor. Instead of spending months on a journey, you will spend just a few hours of your time. It was also reported that some people even die as a result of fatigue in traveling these long journeys.

Technology has also significantly impacted the health sector by providing machines that are capable of monitoring a person heart beat, some machines are able to determine when an organ isn’t functioning properly so that the doctors can treat it very early in other to avoid the case from worsening. One of the most recent technology to be created that has impacted a lot in the health Sector is the pacemaker a machine designed to help the heart in pumping blood this has helped save a lot of lives.

Another way technology has impacted the globe is in the Educational aspect that is to say with technology, we are able to effectively and efficiently learn because at our disposal we have computers which can be used for research. I remember when back at school our teacher used to use chalk to write on the Board for us. Now with the advancement of technology, the teacher is now able to project everything on the board instead of spending so much time writing everything on the board.

Technology has also greatly impacted our way of communication. In the early centuries, their only way of communicating was though Eagles they had to tie a piece of paper containing information on an eagle. This took weeks before it got to the required destination. Now with technology, we are able to call anybody from around the globe and the information will get to the person within that instant, we also have social media platforms like Facebook, what’s app, Instagram where we stay in touch with each other.
After mentioning all these positive impacts of technology, I want to mention one negative impact I think technology has on the world. Technology has provided man with the required Guns, ammunition, and fire power to take over countries and start wars. An example we can all attest to is the Russia - Ukrainian war which is leaving a lot of children homeless and some die out of starvation.

The second negative impact I can think of is, the pollution of our environment. Waste from our vehicles contains carbon monoxide which is very bad are being released into the atmosphere everyday. And to top that off, waste from chemical laboratories and factories are released into the seas which contaminates and kills off our fishes and almost all Aquatic habitats.

Advantages of Technology in kids lives
After having look at the both the positive and negative impact oof technology on the world, I will now talk about how it has affected the lives of kids. Let’s start with a few advantages of technology in kids lives
1 - Enhances Effective and Efficient learning.
When I say it enhances effective and efficient learning, what I mean is after going to school and being taught or lecture by the tutor, when the kids come home they have technologically devices like the mobile phones which with the help of internet can google and seek for more information on certain aspects they do not understand in school. Studies has also proved that young ones are able to grasp more when they information is out into a video form. So watching educative videos on their phones and tablet could prove to be very effective.
2 - Technology helps broaden their Knowledge
This is another positive side effect technology has on kids. With the help of computers, phones, tables they are able to download story books, poems and other educational content from the internet from which they will study with. Instead of buying a bunch load of books, all these boos can be stored in the computer and can be easily accessed by the kid at his or her own time.
3 - Technology helps kids to build on their skills
With the help of mobile phones, computers and the internet, kids and children are able to take online lessons like piano lessons, work on improving their drawing kills, singing and many more. Because some apps are created specifically for that purpose. They can also access YouTube videos which will help to improve their talents.
Disadvantages of technology in kids lives
1 - Spending time on unnecessary things
Sometimes kids over use the privileges given to them by the technological devices like the mobile phone. When it’s time for school or studies instead of them to stop using the phone and learn, they rather spend that time on their phone on doing things that are not serious example playing games
And watching movies.
2 - Watching Pornographic content from the internet.
Instead of searching for educational related videos from YouTube and other websites, they are sometimes tricked into watching pornography from adds that may pop up when searching for other stuffs. They sometimes go to the extent of downloading games that are highly rated 18.
3 - Staying too long on television and other devices causes health issues
Stating too long watching t.v and spending too much time may cause their vision to be impaired. Some parents have given their kids free will to the extent that their children can stay up all day watching cartoons and movies. In the near future this activity will take a toll on their health specifically their eyes.
4 - Not being able to socialize properly
This is as a result of some kids having a lot devices at their disposal they are always indoors 24/7 either playing games or watching movies. They don’t go out to socialize with other people so they when they get the chance to go out they are always scared to talk.
How would you rate the impact of technology in kids' life? Highly positive or negative?
Well, it’s known that technology both has its positive and negative effects on kids life. But the main questions is how positively has it impacted one’s life compared to its negatives. Now looking at both impacts on kids life, from a scale of 1-10 I would i will give it a positive 8 which is highly positive.
The reason why I think this is that, all the negative aspects of technology on kids life’s can be avoided by proper care and attention from our parents or guardians. So with this in mind, or assuming you are able to properly manage your kid. He or she is going to benefit from all the advantages I have stated above.
This is why I highly support that technology has positively impacted the lives of kids and I know most of you will agree with me.
Can you have control over the exposure of kids to certain technological products? How?"
Yes definitely! I believe that our parents and guardians can control the exposure of kids to certain technological products in due cause I will be sharing a few ways we can do that.
The first way i believe we can tackle this problem is by monitoring the activities of the kid. That is to say when he spends some time on his phone, you can ask him or her to stop using it for now and read a book or do a household chore. Within a few weeks they should get use to that routine.
The Second way to solve this problem is I believe we should let our kids or children understand some risks of watching pornographic contents from the internet. Most kids don’t usually know the harm they are exposed to when they view these contents.
Last but not least, having a daily plan for your kid. Drawing a well structured plan will help control some effects such as spending too much time on their devices. And when you draw the plan you should make sure they follow it. When it’s time to learn, they should do it and when it’s time to play and stuffs like that.
Conclusion
Technology has been a blessing for humanity. Even though it has some negative effects but I believe it’s positives over shadows the negatives. I don’t know what humanity would be like without technology.

Yes there are disadvantages and advantages to the use of technology with kids, it often makes them in the virtual world if proper care is not taken, and physical activities are necessary for the kids but with excessive use of technology they tend to ignore the physical life which in turn could be harmful to their health.

You are absolutely right that children can learn a lot through these things like computers, mobile phones and we should put a lot of emphasis on these things.Also care should be taken that they do not become addicted to it.

The kids must be made to understand the importance of more physical activities like making drawings, playing outside and having good conversations. They must not always focus in the screen.
