Hi dear steemians I hope everyone is doing fine. This is my first time writing in this community. I really love kids, I live with many kids who are basically my younger ones and cousins.

I have just been observing because I did not really know how or where to start posting until I saw this contest and thought I should go in for it.
My favourite subject back in secondary school was English literature or Literature in English as some may call it. I had passion for this subject so much that most at times I find myself teaching it to my classmates and younger siblings. I love storytelling and reading especially interesting novels. Explains why I am an actress now.

Amongst subjects like Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Philosophy, I never missed an English literature class. I used to study it with so much passion that I applied it in my lifestyle. We studied books like "Hard Times"by CharlesDickens,

" Julius Caesar","Nervous Conditions",

by Tsitsi Bangarembga "Our Husband has gone mad again" by Ola Rotimi

and "Poems of Black Africa" by Wole Soyinka"just to name a few. In literature I loved especially stylistic device such as metaphor, simili, oxymoron, personification, soliloquy, hyperbole, just to name a few. I always took literature prices back then in form 3 to form 5. I got an upper hand in literature when I changed school

and went to another college. The school was behind in their syllabus of studies especially in English literature. Books that I had studied in my former college, I had to join my classmates who had never studied them before to start reading them form the start , so I understood everything in literature better than the others. The literature teacher I liked in my secondary school was ma'am Praxidis. We usually called her " mummy shake shake". This is because she portrayed English literature with so much passion, emotions and body actions. She thought the book Poems of Black Africa and still remember some poems i memorised just because of the way she read them for example "Dear daffodils ". It was like a habit for me to correct my literature teaches when they made a mistake in literature. It got to a point where my literature teacher told me that if I got a "B" grade or anything less than an "A" grade, I would cry my eyes out and that was true. I love literature so much till now and I teach my junior ones stylistic devices and how to get a deeper meaning from something and not just the surface meaning. That is in interpreting a movie, dance, piece of art and non verbal communication.
