Tailoring lesson #2 || Basics in Sewing || by @ghani || 23 may 2022 || homework
Sewing
sewing is a process of attaching two pieces of fabric together by sewing them together with thread or a needle.
sewing is used in many different ways, including for items like clothing, bags, and curtains and all kind of fabrics we use in our life. it is manually in early times by hand but now a days there are many kind of machines for all types of sewing. three main things which we need to sew is needle ,thread and fabric.
Stitching
stitching is basically sewing with a thread that has been twisted around a needle. it is used for things like hemming, securing pieces of fabric together, and making decorative stitches. It is mostly the same movement of thread with the needle. basically the thread in stitching is mostly tangled around the needle to get desired form. which helps to create many designs.
Embroidery
embroidery is basically a process of decorating the fabrics with different type of stitches. in embroidery also thread / yarn , needle and fabric are used. in different cultures there are many different types of embroidery designs. for example : in Pakistan there in Shisha work embroidery which is done with different types of mirror to attach to the fabric to get a perfect look.
Seam
seaming is the process of attaching two pieces of fabrics with a stitch. the form of stitches can be zigzag straight or rectangular. there are now many types of seaming these days but all of them are mainly operated by machines.
Types of sewing
the types of sewing i want to mention is plain sewing and fancy sewing.
Plain sewing
plain sewing is where you just sew the fabric together. it's usually used for things like clothes, jackets, and sacks. fancy sewing is where you use different types of stitches to make the fabric look nicer.
Fancy sewing
fancy sewing means that the thread is not a simple cotton or polyester. It may be rayon, silk, or other types of thread with a higher quality. This means that the stitches will be more tightly woven and look more polished. it has basically the decorations purposes of fabrics. It also means that the thread may fray more easily, so be careful when handling it!
Types of stitching
according to my homework task i have to write about two types of stitches. There are two types of stitches i am going to discuss straight stitches and back stitch.
Straight stitch
straight stitch this is a basic stitch that goes down the middle of the fabric. you can use this stitch to sew things like clothes and bags together. it's also used for decorative stitches.
Back stitch
backstitch is a type of stitching that is used to anchor the fabric together. it's usually done at the start and end of a seam single or double stitch . it was used even before the invention of machines. it is still used while using the machines.
