SEC17 WK #6: My Family, My Pride!

Introduction

Family is everything and I'm glad I decided to set up a new family about 9 months ago. The establishment of the new family has been filled with blessings and I'm grateful to God for all. Permit me to share a few things about my family with you.

My Precious Family

In Proverbs 18:22, the Bible says; He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favour from the Lord, this is exactly my case. We tied the knot last August (9 months) and the journey has been a very peaceful and blessed one.

The journey started with two young, strong, brilliant and courageous human beings and that laid a solid background for the family to push through in any kind of condition. I remember my wife was jobless at the time we decided on a date for our wedding and before the wedding day, she got a job that's better in multiple folds than where she has worked. At that point and other events surrounding us, I knew the union was blessed already.

One important part of my family is my wife, she's beautiful, hardworking, smart, brilliant, compassionate, soft-hearted... In fact, she's a queen and more. She's one of the amazing people around me who give me strength, she would tell me; I'm your number one fan. She has always trusted in my ability to pull through in any condition.

Barely 9 months after the wedding, we gave birth to twin girls and that has remained the best gift ever. Despite some challenges my wife encountered at the latter stage of pregnancy, she was determined to carry the babies to term even though there have been suggestions by the doctors to bring the babies at 34 - 36 weeks.

At 37 weeks, we admitted to proceed with the Caesarian section to meet our bundles of joy and it's the best feeling anyone can ever have. Let me tell you a few things about our girls.

Best Gift- The girls are the best gift to the family, not many had the opportunity to give birth to twins but we are favoured with one without going through any boost doses. The gift came naturally and they have ever since given us a new name in town.

Strong and Courageous- Olivia was 2.3 Kg while Chloe was 1.6 Kg at birth and that may likely be a factor in taking Chloe to the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU). Their mother tried her best to carry them to term and when the paediatricians in the theatre room asked which of them was going into the SCBU, the response from the surgeon was No.

One of the factors was the activeness of baby Chloe even though she was small but reacted quite well to the new environment more than her sister. The babies saved us hundreds of thousands of Naira because they came out healthy. Special Care Baby Unit is a place that may completely drain one's purse.

The babies are healthy and growing well now. The family we started some months ago is now more solid than it was at the beginning. The real adventure lies ahead, I can tell you we have given birth to one of the smartest kids in the world. We are a happy family!
