Unforgettable Punishment
It was a sunny day on the 14th of October 2022. I can't forget the date. We were attending mathematics class when suddenly, someone started humming a song. The teacher asked who it was that was humming but no one answered.. The maths teacher continued teaching. The humming started again, this time louder. The maths teacher got irritated and asked who the class prefect was.. Being the class prefect that year, I stood up.
He asked me to identify who it was that was humming if not I'd bear the cross for the whole class. When I asked them, everyone denied, I couldn't place whose voice it was. The maths teacher got angrier seeing the denial and said I was going to take the punishment for the whole class. No amounts of pleading could change his mind.
He took me to the school farm and handed a cutlass to me. He gave me a very big portion to clear. I was so annoyed, how could I bear someone else's punishment. The sun was scourging that particular day. I hated being punished. I started clearing the farm immediately. I had lot of blisters on my palms.
It was so painful that tears welled up my eyes.
My skin was burning under the sun. I was already exhausted after clearing half the portion. I went to his office to beg for his mercy, he paid deaf ears to my pleas. He said I had to clear the entire portion before entering the class. I stayed in the farm for three hours. While I was still clearing the farm, I felt so dizzy.
I stopped to rest under a shade, before I knew it I fainted. After a while, the maths teacher came to inspect my work, only to see me lying unconscious on the floor. He took me to the school clinic. Shortly after I gained consciousness but I wasn't able to move my body. I was later informed that I had fever. Immediately I cried, remembering what I passed through in that farm.
My classmates visited me in the clinic and apologized to me. I was too angry to bate an eyelid on them. If it weren't for one of them, I wouldn't have had to undergo that brutal punishment. That was the worst punishment I ever received throughout my stay in secondary school. It is indeed an unforgettable experience.

I must sympathize with you, but you did good, even though you paid the price for it. We had a rule in high school about snitches, they get beat up.
