2023 Nigerian Movie Review || "Within Me" || A lesson to young girls and ladies

There's this new Nollywood movie directed by Ruth Kadiri a popular Nigerian actress. She uses Chidi Dike and some others to feature a particular genre of movie that portrays love The main characters are Chidi Dike and Stefania Bassey. Within me in a popular Nigerian movie that has gained popularity in months and it's about a young high school girl and boy who fell in love with each other not knowing their relationship would result to forfeiting their dreams.

It wasn't intentional for them to have sex but it did happen and the girl was pregnant for the guy. All this happened as a result of their being careless and stupid in love. What happened afterwards?

The story line of the movie portrays the consequences of indecent acts among youths in the society making it my favorite movie because of what I learnt from the movie.

Movie highlights

Ella a young undergraduate who was given admission to the university involved herself in indecent affairs with Greg a 100 level student in the university who made promises of love to her. The result? Ella was put in the family way and lost her admission.

When Ella's mum came to know about it,she was so angry, sad and betrayed knowing how hard she worked to train Ella to be a promising child only for her to get pregnant along the line. She asked Ella who was responsible for the pregnancy, who later opened up and said it was Greg. They went to Greg's house and confronted him. Greg denied Infront of his family and that of Ella's.

Ella was frustrated as she cried and pleaded for Greg to tell the truth. Ella's mum was the most angered as she took Ella to the hospital to get rid of the baby. The doctor sensing the trouble at hand asked if Ella gave her consent to the abortion. Ella cried and said she didn't want to abort the baby. Ella's mum was so angry and immediately disowned her threatening her never to come back to the house.

Ella was stranded as she went back to Greg's house. Greg's father was particularly touched by her story and believed his Son was responsible. Greg's mother on the other hand was very rude and full of bitterness to Ella. Greg alongside his mother treated Ella with all resentment as Ella moved into the house by the command of Greg's father.

**Few days after Greg's father travelled, Greg's mother threw Ella out of the house in the middle of the night threatening her not to come back. Ella cried and pleaded but to no avail. She had to accept her fate as she slept in one uncompleted building. The following day, in order for her to feed herself and the growing baby,she started selling oranges on the road.

Greg later came back to his senses as he saw how Ella was suffering on the street. He felt deep regret for what he had done and went to beg Ella for forgiveness promising to take responsibility for his actions. After much pleading and tears, Ella forgave Greg. He took Ella back home and explained everything to his parents. Greg's mother apologized for the bad way she treated Ella promising to be more accommodating.

Ella's mum later reunited with her daughter. Ella stayed with the Greg's till after her delivery of a bouncing baby girl.With tears in her eyes,she was so grateful as she thanked God for a safe delivery. And promised Within her self to continue her education when the child is weaned.

Moral Lessons

This scenario is what most people face today especially students in higher education. Their carelessness with boys bring about sad results like this and they end up loosing everything. If a situation like this happens, it's the girl that's affected because the person responsible can choose to run or flee and never to return. If you're a student or a lady, it's not bad to get into a relationship but do so when you're ready for marriage.

The consequences are sad and can never be amended. What is done is done. You won't want to take up a responsibility when you're not ready for it. Face your future and leave going into men. I think you'll definitely learn from this movie.
