As a parent or a kid, tell us about a period when you had lasting joy.
Life is full of lots of moments. Some are joyous and some the opposite, but growing up, a number of these memories leave an indelible effect on our memories.
There have been numerous moments where I had lasting joy as a kid but one that stands out is when my dad surprised us with new bicycles even though we didn't ask. It was the most casual day and he came into our room and asked us to help him work on the generator set as it gave us issues the night before to which we agreed.
While he was working, we saw the bicycle under the staircase and we were quite thrilled but we didn't go near them as we thought they belonged to the neighbors, to which he laughed and said "take it outside and play with it, I bought it for you". I and my brother were the happiest little boys at that moment. It's been years ago now.
What have you done to ensure that this joy continues in your life and in the life of those around you?
To ensure that this joy continues in my life and the life of those around me.
I've promised myself to cherish every good moment that life brings my way and to also do my best in creating such happy moments for those around me.
Life can be very unpredictable at times and we never can tell when things change, as such, I have made it a promise to cherish my time and moments with my family and my loved ones as well as contribute to the welfare of others within my life.
I strongly hope someday when I have kids of my own, I would be a good father to them and also create a lot of happy moments for them Amen.
As a parent or a kid, tell us about a period when you had sadness.
The truth remains, life is not always characterized by happy moments. There are also sad moments in life and I also had a lot of these moments growing up as a kid. The one that stands out happens to be the time my dad had to go away from us for reasons beyond our comprehension as at then.

We were just little kids and this event left a profound scar on our family. We had no way of communicating with our dad and this deeply troubled my mum. We also experienced financial instability during this period and had to drop out of school.
This was when I realized the importance of a father figure in one's life. However, thankfully he was able to come back to us. I never like to talk about this moment or go into details about it. In fact, I never spoke to anyone about this moment.
What have you done to ensure that the period of sadness doesn't show up again in your life?
It's been a really long time since this event happened, however, to ensure that this period of sadness doesn't show up again in my life. I've promised myself to be independent and resilient in life and to this I'm constantly putting in effort to achieve this goal.
I've also promised myself that in the future when I have a family of my own. I would not do anything that would result in me having to leave and subject my family to such pain as I experienced firsthand the kind of emotional trauma this could be to a kid. I now know the importance of being a present and active contributor especially a father figure in the life of a child and I strive to also be a good father like mine was and also create lots of wonderful memories for my children.
WHO IS DOPPLEY
His goal on steemit is to make numerous connections with people and put out valuable articles for the steem community to consume and interact with. Basically to be like water, which slips through fingers but is still capable of holding up a ship.
