MY DREAM AS A CHILD
Growing up in a family where my parents are moralists, disciplinarians and academicians, I grew up to have great dreams. Thanks to the values, discipline and other training I got from them. These values propelled me to be a better person and dream high.

What were the dreams you had in childhood for the future.
As a child, I had a lot of dreams which I want to achieve as I grow up. At every stage of my life I had a different dream. I can remember during my lower primary school days I wish to become a doctor. I had this dream because I was suffering from cold which was already affecting my respiratory system them and I used to visit the hospital often. I used to admire the doctors and nurses then. How well-dressed and smart they. I remembered telling my parents during one of our visits in the hospital that I would love to be a doctor. Then, my parents called one of the medical personnel attention to what I said and he advised me to study hard that I would become a doctor in the future.

As time progressed, during my secondary school studies I decided to study engineering, in particular software engineer. I love mathematics and physics so much and I believe I can make impact in that area of specialization.

I worked really hard to achieve my dream but that dream was marred by Nigeria educational system.
I also had a dream of getting my first degree at 22 and immediately get a job and latest by 25 I am married.
As a child I had a lot of dreams which I really worked hard to achieve, some came through while others didn’t.
Who supported you in that dreams.
No other persons other than my beloved parents. They sacrificed a lot to see me and my siblings comfortable. We attended the best primary school in city where we lived as children. Even the secondary schools we attended were among the best in the state we reside and we attended the notable high institutions.
They did not have a car and didn’t live big life just because they want us to have the best of everything. They paid my tuition fees through to college. I also had mentors and some family and friends who contributed to my success today.
Which one of those dreams have you achieved?
As a child, most of my dreams were not realistic because I love flashy things and want to have them. As I grew up and began to mature in all aspect I realized that my dream is to teach and in particular to tutor students mathematics. I channeled my energy to that aspect and I achieved it. I have a second degree in Mathematics. Though my initial dream was to become a software engineer but Nigeria educational system frustrated me till I decided to study mathematics since it is also one of my dreams.

I am happy to see that I can influence life by teaching and I have seen most of my students doing well and that gives me immense joy.
Which one did you not achieve, What do you think went wrong?
I believe we may not all have it in life. Sometimes we fail and sometimes we succeed. I couldn’t achieve some of my dreams but there are some I can still achieve with time.
I couldn’t achieve the dream to be a software engineer because of how JAMB(an examination body in Nigeria) frustrated me. I wrote the examination for good three times, though I made good scores but I couldn’t secure admission in colleges in applied.
I couldn’t achieve my dream to be a doctor because it was fantasy I had as a child because of the way doctors dress and how beautiful they look. Though I didn’t get a job at the age I dreamt I will secure a job but I still did after some years. Though I am over the age I dreamt I will marry but it will happen in the nearest future.
In conclusion, it is good to have big dreams but that is not the end we should also work hard to be those dreams to realization. We should also have dreams that are realizable; I mean dreams that are realistic and not mere day dreaming.

Yes, our parents love their children unconditionally and there are there during our highs and lows.
Hello dear @concord-leo, I'm happy to hear about your dreams of becoming either an engineer, a doctor or a teacher. I love all this professions because they are awesome. Though you didn't full filled your dreams of becoming either a soft ware engineer or a doctor, I'm happy you achieved your dreams of becoming a teacher which is quite good and I love your field of teaching which is mathematics. This shows how intelligent you are because alot of people run away from this subject as a result of how it's difficult as they always referred to it. Thank God for your parents for supporting you and your siblings all along
Thanks @chiabertrand for your kind words. True, many students dread the subject but I can't relate because it is my best subject.
Mathematics is also one of my best and favorite subject alongside with physics and applied mechanics.
You had quite a number of dreams as a child, doctor, engineer, and lastly to graduate with a study of mathematics, which resulted in the acting if teaching, the situation that occurs during admission in Nigeria is uncalled for, the need to emphasize this should be a priority, if you don't have an acquaintance to help you run your admission, the possibility of being admired is slim. Glad you could achieve something and never relent, we never know what the future holds
