Special Greetings to all members of steemkid Community.
It is a pleasure to participate in s3w1 steemit engagement challenge in this wonderful community. I'm excited to have you all on my blog today, as I write about my childhood dreams. I believe you will have a wonderful time as you read through my post.

Childhood is a stage in life between infancy and adolescence. A dream is a visionary scheme or a wish, hope or desire. Every child is allowed to visualize what he/she wishes to become or accomplish in the future.
Childhood dreams are wishes made by children to achieve a particular task in future. Children always visualize what the want to become in adult hood.

In some primary schools, there is a day tagged a career day, when pupils are allowed to represent their dream career. Most children have dreams of becoming a medical doctor, Engineer, Lawyer, Nurse, Teacher, Dancer, artist, architect etc. But , as children grow older, they might have a change of dream, hence deviating from their childhood dreams. But with proper guidance, those dreams could become a reality.

My childhood dreams

During my Childhood, I had a couple of dreams. My dreams include

  • To become Reverend sister
  • To become a medical Laboratory scientist.
  • To learn fashion and designer.

My dream of becoming a Reverend sister

When I was a little child, I so much admired the Reverend sisters. I came from a very religious home, and as Catholics I started my religious life early. I received my first holy Communion at a very young age, going to church every Sunday and seeing the Reverend sisters on their white outfit, is always charming and I wished to be like them.
In primary school, my Christian Religious teacher was a Reverend sister, she was very beautiful, kind and generous. Seeing the kind of life she lived, I was determined to be married to Jesus for the rest of my life.

I insisted I would go to a missionary school for my secondary education. After my primary school, I was admitted in a missionary secondary school. In jss1, I did confirmation. Through out my junior secondary school, i was still determined to be dedicated to Jesus.

During my senior secondary School, I didn't know what happened to those wonderful dreams of mine, so I decided to go to the university instead of going to the convent.

My dream of becoming a Medical Laboratory scientist

In senior secondary School, I joined the science class. Science classes is for those that want to study any science related course, for me I wanted to study Medical Laboratory in higher institution. When I wrote my first UTME, my score did not reach the cutoff mark for the course I wanted to study in Imo state university.

Then medical Laboratory was my first choice in University and Science Laboratory Technology was my second choice in the polytechnic. I was offered admission to study SLT in the Polytechnic, I accepted the offer because I believe I could still do direct entry to study my course of choice after my National Diploma.

After my National Diploma, I applied for direct entry, unfortunately I was not admitted. So I had to continue with Higher National Diploma.

My dream of learning fashion and designer.

My grandma had a hand sewing machine that I and my siblings always play with. I always try to figure out how to use the sewing machine on my own. I always like to recreate designs with needle and thread. Sewing was just a hobby to me. I loved sewing and I had the dream of learning fashion and designing.

The dreams I achieved

I learnt fashion and designing, now I can sew for my family and friends. To me it was a dream come true because at first I thought sewing would be very difficult to learn.

Dreams I could not achieve.

Well, reality struck! As I grew older I realized that time changed my childhood dream of becoming a Reverend sister. My dream of becoming a Reverend sister was just a fantasy. I realized I didn't want to be wearing white for the rest of my life. I wanted more adventurous life. I realized I could still be dedicated to God while living with my husband and Children.

I have not given up on my dream of becoming a medical laboratory Scientist. I would still study medical Laboratory properly someday. But for now, I am a microbiologist/biochemist. I have worked in a medical laboratory as a microbiologist and this is so close to my dreams.

My dream supporters.

My parents supported my dreams. When I insisted I wanted to be a Reverend sister, they enrolled me in a missionary boarding school. They believed that it would be a ladder to achieving my dreams. They were very supportive and always tried to lead me to the right part.
My mum always advice me to apply for direct entry as I might get admitted to study medical Laboratory. Well, I'm still working towards that direction.

Conclusion.

Childhood gives us the opportunity to dream and wish for something without finding out what that career really entails. Most times we might wish to be things that are contrary to want our families want us to be. Most times those dreams are influenced by things that happen around us. If you end up doing everything you dream at childhood, kudos to you.
If you couldn't achieve yours, is not bad too because is never too late. You can revisit your dreams and strategize on how to achieve them.
Thank you steemkids for this wonderful opportunity to participate in steemit engagement challenge.

I want to invite @ogwo @precious123 @ okere- blessing to participate in this contest.

Becoming a Reverend sister will definitely require a lot of commitment without having a change of mind at any time, in the long run. When I saw that dream at the beginning of this article, I was so eager to see if you actually become one but I guess your profile picture conveyed the message earlier than expected 😊.

It's a great pleasure to know that you have been able to venture into fashion and you are doing great. In the journey of becoming a Medical laboratory scientist, I wish you the best.
