What is a butterfly
Butterfly is a flying insect with large coloured wings and a small body. They are found almost everywhere, both in warm and cold climates. Butterflies have a short life span. They live for about one week or two but some species live for months and then die. They feed mostly on fruits like pears, bananas etc. Butterflies have four wings which are beautifully coloured and patterned.
Importance of butterfly
- They serve as an agent of pollination
- They serve as food for some animals like lizards.
- Some butterflies reduce pollution by absorbing carbon dioxide in the environment.
Materials used for drawing
- Waste carton
- Acrylic colour
- Brush
- pen
- Evostik gum
- Beads
- maskin tape
- Paper cutter.
- Charcoal white pencil
Step 1
I measured the waste carton 10 inches by 7 inches. After the measurement, I cut some pieces of the carton and gummed them by the edges of the square carton. I then use masking tape to conceal the wrought edges.

Step 2
I used black acrylic colour and brush to colour the rectangular carton
Step 3
Here, I drew a butterfly on the black rectangular carton using a Pen and charcoal pencil. I began with the head, the body and the tail. I then drew the wings by the left and the right and the pattern. Finally, I drew the two antenna.
Step 4
I marked the edges of the first two wings using multiple coloured beads and evostik gum.
Step 5
I marked the edges of the remaining two wings using multiple coloured beads and eEvo Stikgum.
Step 6
I traced the head, the body, the tail and the antenna of the butterfly using light green beads and evostik gum.
Step 7
I gummed purple beads on the pattern in the first two wings
Step 8
I gummed orange beads in the remaining space of the first two wings.
Step 9
Similarly, I covered the pattern in the last two beads with purple and light green beads. Finally, at this step, I covered the remaining space with orange beads.
Step 10
I covered the head, body and tail of the butterfly with multi-coloured beads.
