It's not new to me that baking soda, other than baking itself, can also be used to clean the toilet. Then at a later time, I found out that it could also be used as a mouthwash.
According to what I read, it can help freshen your breath and provide antibacterial to your mouth diseases. In the video I found on TikTok, someone puts the baking soda on the top of the toothpaste while he is about to brush his teeth. I researched it myself and I found out that baking soda is better for removing plaque and whitening the teeth.

So I tried it myself and I feel like I am brushing my teeth with little sand on my toothbrush and I felt that it thoroughly cleaned my teeth. I often do it once a day so long that there is available baking soda on our home supply but experts say that it is healthy to use baking soda on your mouth at least twice a week.

I listed the advantages and disadvantages of baking soda being used as mouthwash and add-ons to your toothpaste.

Advantages:

Reduces plaque and gingivitis - When you put a grain of baking soda on your toothpaste, it will help to prevent damage to your teeth and gums

Reduce bacteria - On the other hand, if you rinse your mouth with baking soda it will make it harder for the cavity bacteria to multiply.

Whitens teeth - Baking soda has natural whitening properties and has been demonstrated to remove stains from teeth.

Affordable - You can buy it in any grocery store for less than the amount of your toothpaste.

Disadvantages:

Taste and texture are unappealing - As I mentioned earlier, it feels like sand when you use it. I am comfortable with it but I am not sure about the kids.

Whitening is less drastic - It can't happen overnight but there are times that baking soda won't work well as a teeth whitener.

Finally, I just made it to myself and I like my teeth so far especially using them. You can also research the use of baking soda yourself but if in doubt, consult your dentist.
