BLACK THURSDAY

Good Day steemians,

My eyes are filled with tears and my heart feel so heavy as I type this. I am still at a loss for words as to why we have so much hate in our heart towards our fellow humans. Today is indeed a sad day

My Friend Edward was killed today for no other reason other than the fact that he tried to live his truth. Before his death he was a jovial, fun loving guy, He was also a smart a quiet person among other things but all these qualities could not save the life of my friend as a matter of fact they all meant nothing.

Edward decided to step out of the closet in his second year of University to just a few of his friends (Myself inclusive) about his sexuality as a gay male but after school, when he got his own apartment and a Job he felt he was financially independent of his folks and decided to come out to the world and live his truth but the reception was quite different from what he expected because while we celebrated with him and encouraged back in school his folks were bitter and resentful about his decision to live his life the way he wanted. Some went as far as total dis-association from him while others kept calling and trying to talk him out of being gay as if it was a choice he had to power to make a few others had their own reputation to think of as they did not want to be associated with a GAY person.

Edward was initially cool about it and felt like they will turn around eventually but after 2 years it became obvious that they were not goin to change their position on the matter and this drove him into depression. We tried all we could to cheer him up but all was to no avail and when we were about giving up hope the old Eddy resurfaced and we all rejoiced little did we know he was saying his goodbyes in his own way. Edward took his life Yesterday night by oral ingestion of an insecticide popularly known as "Sniper" and le left a note saying how his family meant the world to him and was not able to live with the rejection anymore. He also stated that some people kept calling his Job letting them know they were employing a "GAY' person even with the knowledge that it was illegal and punishable with 14 years imprisonment,
so he was relieved of his job last month and this drove him to the edge and he took his life.

You may wonder why I said he was killed, It is because of the way he was treated by people he loved as if he was a lepper. He was made an outcast for no just reason but for speaking and living his truth.

When did we become JUDGE JURY and EXECUTIONERS? WHEN?!!!!

let us all try to be accommodating and respect each others views even if it contradicts ours.
