Edge computing is a way of being able to access data and able to use it in processing near the place that the data was provided. It is a way to focus the eay dara is being used by limiting how and where that data can be processed. Edge computing will limit out dependency on cloud computing as we will have a more distributed way of accessing the data we need. And all the processing power will not depend on one centralised computer.
It will reduce the time it takes to process data. This is because if the processing of data has to be done by a company across the world, the speed of that data processing will be low as the latency will be more.
What Edge computing is seeking to do is to reduce latency.It not require so much bandwidth to use because more of the data thatg wi be used will be o that computer that same computer. This will reduce that amount of bandwidth to be used when computing because it will make so that we would be able to synchronise with the cloud when we want to save or updata our data.
It will also help use self-driving cars more efficiently because we will be able to sync more of them together and process more data that getting all that information on the cloud.it will improve their performance because they will have a centralised system in them and process informationand give feed back so they can improve the software for better performance.
One of the most important uses of Edge computing is the use on Internet of things (IoT)devices.It will enable these devices to be able to hold all the information they need to operate.
It will enable better content delivery. As we will be able to cache all the videos or information we have view over the enable us to access them with less bandwidth and lentency.
One of the biggest disadvantages of Edge computing will be that you will not be able to determine who or who send updates and new devices that will be added. This is a huge security risk as more of the data is processed is done at the edge level this cause the risk that people will still your identity. The addition of IoT devices might lead to attacks taking advantage of this to attack.
Another disadvantage of Edge computing is that fact there will more incomplete data as in edge computing involves working with the need data and discarding the unwanted data.
Edge computing wi require more storage capacity this is because you wi want to have all the necessary data to be able to work. But they are developing more compact storage devices that will solve this problem in the future as we might get quantum storage devices.
