Hope you all are doing good? Today, am going to be talking about the 5th Generation technology (5G). This technology is recently recognized for being the fastest of all the other network technologies that came before it. So in this post i will talk about what 5G technology is, the previous network technologies that came before it and the benefits of the 5G technology.

What is 5th Generation technology??

5G technology is the latest wireless communication system which uses higher and less clustered radio frequencies to disseminate information all over the world. This technology was created after studying the previous network standard in order to make this technology a more reliable and faster network ever made and at the same time resolving the problems faced by the other network standards. The 5G network is also recognized as the “network of networks” because it is the combination of the good qualities of all the previous network standards making this one the ultimate as it contains a piece of all the network standards.

The 5th Generation technology was developed in 2016 by Third generation partners project (3GPP) in the telecommunication industry. The increase speed of the 5th generation network is due to the additional use of higher frequency radio waves in along with the frequencies used in the previous networks. With the use of higher frequencies in the 5G network it faces the problem of range that is the physical range it can reach is lesser as the frequency used is higher so therefore, there is the need for the use of cells in relatively small geographical areas to support all three bandwidth frequencies, that is the low medium and high frequency.

Previous network generation technologies.

1. First Generation technology (1G).

The first generation technology as it denotes is the first ever wireless network technology to be created. It was created base on analog frequencies over multiple access systems. The first generation technology was developed in the 1980 by the telecommunications standards and was used till it was replaced. This technology also reduces noise in a line and made voices on a line clear due to it use of analog frequencies.

2. Second Generation technology (2G).

The second generation technology were the second wireless network technology which used digital telecommunications to carry information from one place to the other. This generation technology standards had three different standards which were the global systems for mobile communications(GSM), time division
Multiple access(TDMA) and the code division multiple access(CDMA). The second generation technology provided users the ability to send test pictures and multimedia messages.

3. Third Generation technology (3G).

The third generation technology was also a wireless mobile telecommunication technology which replaced the second generation technology due to its upgrades on the second generation technology offering better services than the 2G like better voice quality and faster data transfer. This generation was also noticed for it higher frequency band than the previous network standards below it.

4. Fourth Generation technology (4G).

The fourth generation technology like all the others is a wireless broadband cellular network that precedes the 5G network technology. The fourth generation technology provides features and capabilities that far supersedes that of the third generation network technology. As it provides higher data download and upload speeds than the 3G network and also provide high quality multimedia streaming and clear voice over internet protocol (VoIP).

Benefits of 5G technology

1. It has higher capacity which gives users the choice to switch between cellular and wireless network to experience better experience and also access the internet with high efficiency.

2. One interesting feature of the 5G technology is how high it’s bandwidth is. As a result, making it much faster to transfer huge amounts of data in less time and also ensuring a faster mobile connection.

3. 5G network also avoids congestion on a network due to its high bandwidth capacity and fast network, congestion is highly unlikely to occur because all process will run on time because of the fast speed and also because of the bandwidth it wail also be able to store processes pending execution on a network.

Fifth generation technology (5G) has made everything now faster and easier with the amount of time it requires to transfer huge amounts of data compared to all the previous network technologies. 5G was also developed to most importantly to solve all the problems of the previous networks making it the best technology at best.
