I believe that every situation has the perfect word to describe it. Don't blame me for being a logophile.

At first, it started as the habit of reading the English dictionary. I have my dad to thank for this since he owned a big dictionary tucked away in a space in his bookshelf. I became a regular visitor to that particular spot until he had to get me the Macmillan English Dictionary which had a less difficult language structure exclusively for children compared to the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English. I took it with me whenever I went to school.

Later, I was introduced to short stories and novels. It helped build my vocabulary too. I even had some sticky notes on which I wrote new words and pasted them at the head of my bed so I can glance at them every morning before going out. After exhausting my dad's limited novels and the books I was provided with, I had to find a new way of learning new words and that was by reading random educative articles on the internet.

The internet provided me with a lot of new knowledge. Each learning came with its terminologies and jargon which made reading even more fun to me since I love discovering new terms for everything under the sun. I would spend my afternoons after school, surfing the internet until I fell asleep or dada came calling. It became a routine and in no time I had a strong word list and didn't hesitate to teach others what I know whenever I got the opportunity to.

Now that I am engaged in other activities that leave me with no free time to continue such luxury, I proceeded to play the Scrabble word game or learn from others. This way, I carry my phone with me and whenever a spiritual leader, friend, media presenter, or lecturer mentions a new word, I look it up immediately then bookmark it for further review and adoption. Here on steemit too, @benton3 came up with a "Brain Teaser" series on the Steemkids community. My joy knew no bounds the very day I discovered it. I have been participating in it for the past five days and have learnt a whole lot of words in the process.

Let me give you a peek at the new words I have learned this week.
KIP: (v.) To sleep.
SCRIMMAGE: (n) A rough fight.
DELIRIUM: (n) A mental state in which one is confused and not able to think or speak clearly usually because of fever or some other illness.
ORIFICE: (n) A hole or opening in the body.
INTER ALIA: (adv) Among other things.

CONCLUSION

What I do in my leisure time is to learn new words in the English language. This makes me a logophile.

Thank you @paulyoung for inviting me. @whakee @ahbaz @emyekanem need to see this too.
