The Dhakka Start Laptop
Hey everyone, a quick update on my last article regarding my laptop. Today I will continue the story from where we left off. Firstly a quick recap on the events that went on last time.
I was awake late at night playing valorant with my friends. My precious laptop was working fine at the moment. The next day I woke up to find out it wasn't turning on. I tried all the conventional methods at home. But it wasn't turning on. So as I was stressed, I took it to market for repairs in the scorching heat. During the latest heatwave, we Karachites suffered through.
Now as I was looking for someone who could fix my precious laptop. Many shopkeeps just refused to accept it by just taking a glance at it. I think it was because my laptop is too big and could cost a lot if something went wrong. After strolling in the market for an hour. I finally managed to get someone who was willing to fix my issues. He checked my device and said, either its Graphics card has died or its motherboard needs some repairs. He told me further if the Graphics card is dead, then he'll remove it and try to get the laptop to display. He'll charge me 1000 Rupees for that. That was option 1. If that doesn't work, then he'll repair my laptop's motherboard and after it displays. He'll charge me 4000 Rupees for that and with 15 days warranty. If the laptop doesn't work properly or the same problem occurs. He'll fix it without any extra charges within 15 days.
So I told him to go for option 1. And if that doesn't work, go for option 2. So he took my number and said he'll call me once the issue is fixed. After 2 days of dreadful wait, he called. I went to the market and my device was fixed from option 1. He said the issue was with the graphics card and he had asked 1000 rupees to remove it. I have no idea how removing a couple of screws cost a grand but at least the cheapest solution (apparently) worked. I was glad, paid him his due and went back home. But here's the catch. It worked perfectly fine for 2 days. Then the same problem occurred. I HAD BEEN SCAMMED! I was furious and disheartened. I thought about selling it after repairing it. And save up to buy a brand new one.
In a moment of frustration and anger, I held my laptop upside down and gave it a good shake. After taking out my frustration, I turned it on, and... it started working. ??? I had successfully kickstarted my laptop.
So now, If it doesn't work, I just flip it, shake it and turn it on, BOOM! My laptop is officially "Dhakka Start" now. As stubborn and lazy as me, kind of fitting it seems.
