Ghosts are something we have all feared since our childhood. Another thriller contest by @event-horizon, A fantastic topic to write on as it was our favourite topic to discuss with cousins and friends. The stories told by our elders were quite scary at that time but now, we all smile at how we used to be scared. Here, I am writing one I used to hear from my mum.

I was a very naughty child back then. I used to stay awake late and didn't eat food. Once my mother used to tell me a story about "eyes and tag". I know this sounds funny but these were the imaginary characters created by my mother. As we live in Cantt area, so there are forests and trees everywhere. further, the roads are desolate so the area is already creepy where we live.

She sounded like this: There is a creature, named Eyes. A fat woman with a messy bun, black dress, black long sharp nails and red eyes. She roams around in search of naughty kids and then takes them with her. She eats insects and also feeds the naughty kids insects too. So, I was so traumatized by the idea of eyes, that I was scared and avoided darkness. Whenever I try to do some thrilling things to create a mayhem, She just came in search of mine. The doors of the house are just close by themselves. The bed started to shake and a sudden sound of knocking used to come. Intensely horrified, I just hide in my blanket and used to sleep without uttering a sound. She then continues to tell that also a black panther is outside the house that eats bad children not listening to their parents. further, she added a new creature named "Kharchooti". A red demon that takes the money of kids who spent more and save less. Moreover, he dances to a song:
"Chocolate cake, banana cake, strawberry cake, cake and cakes" whenever, we perform bad deeds such as telling a lie, fighting, etc.

I was careless and accidentally throw my savings on the floor and went to play. When I came back, there was no money. I asked my mother and she mentioned "Kharchooti" has taken your money and now he is dancing. Now, In this whole paranormal scenario, the last creature is left which is "Tag", I had mentioned the name before. Tag just comes in search of those kids who sleep hungry ( don't eat vegetables and daal, just sleep to avoid eating these). The Tag comes and casts a spell to make a belly of the stomach that eats all the favourite things of that kid.

I was naughty enough, and the story of eyes, kharchooti, tag and the black panther had made me so terrified that I used to imagine them all day. My things started to disappear, and my savings just vanished, creepy noises I used to hear. I was totally sunk in paranormal thoughts. After that I stopped doing naughty things, I apologized to my mother and promised to be a better version. With that fear, I grew up. Now, I am grown up and somehow I discussed with my mom the stories she used to tell me. She laughed and said It was just a story. I was the eyes, I used to shake the bed, close the door, make noises, I was the one who hides your favourite stuff so that you can learn the value of them and eat meals properly and I was the kharchooti too, who takes your savings so next time, you know how to handle money and avoid bad deeds.
I was totally confused on hearing this I was horrified and obsessed with paranormal creatures so badly that I spent my whole childhood in the shade of this story.

That was mine, hope you like it. All credit goes to my mum. She's a cool storyteller and how she just made a story to make me a better person, wow. One last thing to add, At school my friend used to tell me that our school is made of a graveyard (the most famous rumour of my school life).
