I was born in Trujillo Trujillo in a small town called La Tunita in 1992, at that time I lived my childhood and part of my adolescence in that town and I grew up with that tradition, the celebrations of San Benito, I want to tell you the story.

History of St. Benedict Franciscan mandate:

For the years of 1525 a negrito child was born, this was the son of slaves, he was born in the town of san fratello in Sicily, the history of the few old ones that remain tells that he was a fairly prominent and recognized cook and the legends say that when he was born he had white skin and was accidentally burned in a bonfire which burned his skin and this is dark colored San Benito died in Palermo at the age of 64 years in the year of 1589.

It was really a mandate by a Franciscan order that introduced the cult of St. Benedict of Palermo to the entire Andean mountain range, and the order was to evangelize the African slaves who worked in Lake Maracaibo which makes this a cultural syncretism which blends the cultures of Africa, Europe and indigenous.

How do you celebrate it?

When the month of November falls all the faithful and believers prepare for the celebration that takes place from January 25 to 2 throughout the West passing through Maracaibo, Trujillo, measure, ending in the south of Lake Maracaibo prepare the drums made of wood and cowhide, hundreds of faithful gather, and go out with the saint on the shoulder to walk through the streets of these towns playing is a beauty this beautiful tradition.

This tradition was passed from father to son for over 400 years this past year 2021 by the pandemic did not let this tradition to take place so this year hopefully it can be done in the past years people were very debato to San Benito there are still thousands of them but if the awareness of those who believe in spirituality has declined quite a bit.

For economic and social reasons, the culture has changed a lot in Venezuela, young people see the material as the only and most powerful thing in the world, the daily life and the search for the necessary inputs for life in this country has been very strong, so many cultures are disappearing either by migration or because it is not the main thing for their lives.

Conclusion:

The cultural heritage is a fundamental part of each country and makes it unique in history therefore my thinking is that if you lose any of them, you are losing a part that makes each time more important a country, this makes it unappetizing for tourists should be rescued and the duty is of the people of the mayors and presidents of each country in encouraging those holidays to make parades and build a solid and strong culture. in Venezuela the government we have is not concerned about encouraging anything only worry unfortunately for their welfare leaving a helpless people.
