Increment & Participation Program

Steemit is a social platform where users earn rewards for making quality posts. This means that it is a platform where a wide set of people from different cultures who come together and make posts of different kinds.

It is also a platform where users can earn rewards based on the contents that are out out.

Now from my little time and experience on the platform, I have come to realize that from the above definitions it is not entirely so. Yes contents are being created on a daily basis but they are not necessarily curated. Also in some communities there are some stipulations that you have to follow before being given attention and even at that you hardly get rewards.

The Steemit team has tried to improve on the socialization of the users on Steemit by organizing an engagement challenge. Which is a good thing.

Here's what I suggest, first the Steemit team should change the way they promote the platform. They should try and be active on all social media platforms with an official account like other social media platforms such as Medium, Pinterest, etc.

By doing so they would raise awareness to the platform and as such catch the interest of writers who harbour the idea of writing and getting paid. They can host contests such as this one and invite the public to participate in them through this way, they give the Steemit platform much visibility which can lead to users coming in.

Then there comes the problem of retention. As new users begin to see an opportunity in coming to the Steemit platform, there has to be a way of satisfying that curiosity.

The Steemit team has to put in place a separate team with a separate curation account with the sole task of attending to new users. When the new users come on board they are directed to the new comers community where they begin their journey.

Here's the catch, unlike what i experienced in the newcomers community where some of my post were not voted until I requested for a catch-up vote, their posts would be curated within the 7 day period before post payout, but based on the quality of post. This way users would be encouraged to continue doing more.

Then in the area of creating contents and engagement, I think this should be done organically. That is, any user can create any kind of post they can in the community they are in and depending on the amount of engagement that post gets organically, that post should be votes. Something similar to YouTube where you get rewarded based on the number of views that you have.

I believe through this way users would be encouraged to remain on the platform after giving it a try based on the advertisement of the platform.
