- Contact a Church member who speaks English fluently
Contact a Church member you know to help you learn English by becoming your speaking partner. If you don’t know anyone who speaks English, ask members in your branch or ward if they know anyone.
Your weekly appointments with your speaking partner can be in person or by webcam over the Internet. When searching for a speaking partner, consider the following people:
A ward or branch member
A family member
Former missionaries who served in your ward or branch
Other Church members who speak English fluently
- Explain the requirements for being a speaking partner
Being a speaking partner is easy.
After you have contacted your potential speaking partner, explain to them that to serve, all they need to do is:
Speak English fluently
Be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Be 18 years of age or older
Participate in a 30-minute appointment once a week for 12 consecutive weeks
- Invite them to be your speaking partner
Invite a Church member you know to be your speaking partner. To do this, reach out to them through email, social media, or another form of communication. Explain to them that you are enrolled in PathwayConnect and are working to improve your English skills. Ask if they would be willing to help you learn and direct them to the link where they can apply to become your speaking partner
