Architecture in Watercolors

I love old architecture with intricate details. In old times, usually water permeable structures were built. Basic material like bricks, stones and timber were used.

Nowadays, contemporary structures are made of industrial material like glass and steel etc. These designs are complicated in a way but lack those little intricate details of old architecture.

I have been pinning some sample pictures of old architecture for some time now, with the intention of painting with watercolors.

Although today's my curation day and I'm supposed to be looking out for posts. But I really wanted to paint something as well. Therefore, I organised my activities of the day a bit to schedule some time for this activity. 😀

Here's my activitiy of the day...

Sketching

Painting

• I used wet-on-wet technique for the sky. Wide and free spaces like sky or any landscape look natural with it.

• For the base color of architecture, I used mustard with wet-on-dry technique.

• I let the base color dry completely. Then washed the whole sketch with water.

• Then I picked dark brown color and did some shading with it to add depth. This was also done by wet-on-wet technique.

• In the end I picked black color to do some detailing.
