We are in week 3 of the steemit engagement challenge and it is good to see that people are engaging with each other through valuable comments. Today I am taking part in a challenge by steemit Pakistan based on the use of critical thinking to justify some statements. Let's begin :

The following statements have been put forth for justification.

• A woman's place is in the kitchen.

• You will stay happier if you are unmarried.

• Punishment never has a good effect.

• Money is more important than love.

• VOTES ARE NOT GUARANTEED

Of the four statements, I choose to defend below mentioned two statements :

• A woman's place is in the kitchen

• Punishment never has a good effect.

A woman's place is in the kitchen

Actually while defending any statement, your perspective about the statement has to be optimistic. For me, the statement, A woman's place is in the kitchen is purely optimistic and reflects many unique qualities of women.

In a patriarchal society, women are tough competitors to males and have outnumbered and outpaced males in the majority of the fields. Women are in no ways behind males in any attributes and are better than mae in certain perspectives and some of those attributes have owned them a title of securing their position in the kitchen.

Women have better cooking skills than men and are economical too. Women have the potential of preparing foods that taste better than the same food prepared by males and that too with ingredients much lesser than that used by males. It is partly attributed to the higher patience level of women too. Women are undoubtedly more patient than males and therefore they take their time and give food ingredients enough time to produce their effect, unlike males who are always in hurry.

Secondly, women have better leadership qualities as for their role in serving others is concerned. Women can serve every member better than males and therefore promote affection and love among members.

However, it is the responsibility of males to assist females in any physical work within or outside the kitchen. A husband must assist her wife in the kitchen and outside. This statement doesn't mean that women are bound to a kitchen or can't do better outside. It highlights the qualities of women over and above those possessed by men.

Punishment never has a good effect.

Punishment refers to some action (physical, verbal, monetary ) inflicted or imposed in response to some unpleasant or misdeed by someone to bring a desirable response. Depending upon the nature of the misdeed, punishment can vary in severity and type. Just to emphasize the horizon of punishment ,on one hand we have capital punishment and on other hand, we have verbal punishment. However, my current argument would be centric on verbal or mild physical punishment inflicted or imposed in offices or homes

Punishment does bring desirable effects most of the time but the desired effect is achievable with non - punishable measures and that too with some additional advantages. So desirable effect with non-punishable means is better than that achieved through punishment. Let me try to explain some of the negative parameters linked to the punishment even after getting the desired effect.

Punishment is always associated with aggression on part of both the parties. One who inflicts the punishment is annoyed with the behaviour of the second party on whom punishment is inflected and therefore both are susceptible to losing temper and exchange words that may hurt either of them. For example, an argument between a boss and an employe is likely to ruin their relations and so is it between parents and kids.

One more interesting parameter that must be mentioned here is that of internal control of behaviour. Parents punish their kids for some unpleasant act. Punishment may prevent kids from doing that activity for which they were punished but kids won't be able to sustain that behaviour because internal control to permanently acquire that behaviour is not matured in kids. Moreover, parents can't keep inflicting continues punishment to sustain that behaviour.

Punishment is a means of negative reinforcement and things learned via negative reinforcement are not long-lasting. Revers is the use case with positive reinforcement. So positive reinforcement can always bring good results.

In the office or at home, regular punishment makes employes or family members resistant or used to it. If punishment is being regularly imposed even on minor things, it is going to be ineffective with time and would subsequently make no effect at all.

Votes are not guaranteed

We as steemians generally want our content to be regularly voted on and that too by curators with huge steem power like Sc01/02. But we tend to forget the working of the steemit platform.To renew our steem power completely, any curator account can vote only 10 times with 100% strength because with every vote VP decrease by 2% and in 24 hours only 20% VP is renewed. Sc01/02 has good SP, they need not vote with 100% strength. On the other hand, we will have to look at content creators. We have lakhs of content creators and so it is not possible to vote on every post every day.

Secondly, steemit wants its users to publish High quality content. As votes are not guaranteed, everyone desire to get voted and so maximise their efforts to publish quality content always.So it serves to make this platform the best.

If votes are guaranteed people are likely to lower their efforts which they otherwise put to get selected among the competitive user base. So guaranting of upvotes would lower the aura of the platfor. Moreover it is not possible for curators to reach every user.so need is to stay consistent and publish quality content.
