Steemit Engagement Challenge Week 2: My Country Culture // Calabar Carnival

A wonderful time to be in steemit blog once again. As a matter of fact, steemit has been running engagement challenge and this is the second week of steemit engagement challenge.

This steemit engagement challenge has been pointed to steemit Pakistan community and this I wish to participate. This contest is talking about country's culture.

A country is a region where different group of people are located and are governed through a policy. Culture is the traditional ways, beliefs, ideas and norms, which is done on a state or village.

Therefore, a country culture have different aspect of festival, celebration done to promote there country and this celebration have history, how it celebrated and People involved in it. So as a Nigeria I will like to tell you about my preferred country festival done, which is Calabar Carnival.

History Of Calabar Carnival

I am from Akwa-ibom in Etim Ekpo L.G.A. But this festival was originated from Calabar state in Nigeria. But, we share common boundary with Calabar people and we speak a general language known as Efik Language.

This festival was emerged from the time of the British reign in Africa, to Nigeria in calabar, as where the federal capital territory was located before it was transferred to Abuja. This was the biggest party ever done in Nigeria and some part of Africa. It was first discovered in nigeria by Governor of Cross-river Mr. Donald Duke in December 1st 2004, for the sake of making Calabar a place of special hospitality and was for the mindset of people to participate, as it was done on the month of Christmas. The festival was made for the vacation of about a month of celebration.

But at the reign of Benedict_Ayade, he changed the period of vacation to 28 days in oder for people to rest with the three days remaining. This festival was done to promote Africa a place blessed for living. Till date this festival was celebrated as one of the biggest party done in Nigeria.

Who Are Involved In It

The festival are widely available for musicians, actor and actress. This carnival was also placed for the sake of showcasing Nigeria artist.

Popular people who have been attending this festival are Luck Dube, Nelly and many more Nigeria artist. In each year, title is been composed for the festival and the one I can remember is the one celebrated in 2018, which is Africanism.

This festival is celebrated the same way the old generation celebrate it and it still have the impact of showcasing Africa talent as a blessed one. This carnival should not be anihilated, for no reason. Beacuse I am still looking forward, at least to attend this year own.

How It Is Been Celebrated

There is an evidence which shows the carnival has begin. It begin with Tree-lightening occasion, this means that light equipment will be sent our for people to acknowledge, that the carnival has begin.

During the occasion, the are positions and promotions given to people who help to light up the festival. It include selecting the king and queen of any party involved in the celebration. The Christmas carnival is also done that week, which showcase children and different cultural carnival.

There are some sports tournament done on that period. Then, musical theorem is also seen that period and many musicians will be awarded for there singing talent. Also, the food been cooked that period, is never missed by people who celebrate and attended the carnival.

Conclusion

Calabar is among the beautiful place, where intercontinental carnival are choosen from. Let's keep sharing important thing about ourself, our culture and our religion in steemit platform.
