Defending these statements are all based on our individual mindsets. What is good to you might be bad to another person. Punishment might be bad for you but another person will see it as a corrective measure.

But truth be told punishment does not have any positive impact but rather negative impact in the long run. You see most bullies, check their upbringings, most of them went through tough times as punishment from their caregivers or guidance all in the name of punishment. They grow up and get use to it and resist.
