Introduction to my country, Cameroon.

nane line breaker.png

I am a citizen of Cameroon which is found in Central and West Africa. Cameroon is a marvelous and blessed country which was nicknames Africa in miniature. This is because in Cameroon, there is a wide variety of natural features that vary from forestry and wildlife, landscape, multicultural ethnic groups, languages etc. There are 10 regions in Cameroon which are; Far North, Adamawa, North, North West, South West, West, Littoral, Centre, South, East. I am from the North West region. In Cameroon, there are 2 political languages; English and French. Also, since Cameroon is made up of over 240 ethnic groups and cultures, there are over 240 tribal languages in Cameroon.

Cameroon has the Republic political system of government and the president of my country is H.E Paul Biya. Also, since I am making this post in Steemit Pakistan, let me share the distance that currently exists between our 2 geographical locations.

The above image shows that Cameroon is 6,437 km away from Pakistan. Now that we know my country, let us look at my view towards Cameroon.

Three Reasons why I like Cameroon.

nane line breaker.png

1. Its ethnic diversity.

Just like I just said above, Cameroon is made up of over 240 ethnic groups and with these ethnic groups come their various tribal languages. I personally hail from the Awing village and we too have our unique language. I usually travel to the village every holiday to increase my ethnic knowledge about my people and this made me know of the history and how we came about.

I like Cameroon because everybody in Cameroon has a tribe which they belong and they can easily identify and relate to each other through the tribal language. This gives a sense of belonging to something bigger.

2. Geographical and natural blessings.

Cameroon is blessed with so many natural features which include the likes of wildlife and rare species of animals, forestry; different types of trees, mountains and hills, valleys, volcanoes, waterfalls, zoos etc. Cameroon has all the types of animals known to be on the African continent and this makes it very unique. The plants and forests in Cameroon are very special too because of the different types of geography that exist in Cameroon such as the dry and sub-suharan areas in the Northern regions of Cameroon, the rain forests and the wet areas of the Southern regions of Cameroon. There are so many National Reserves and Parks as well as zoos where endangered species are being kept located in Cameroon.

Mount Cameroon

Also, the priced possession of Cameroon which is Mount Fako aka Mount Cameroon is the only volcano in the whole of West Africa.

3. Agriculture and food.

In my country Cameroon, especially in the Western areas of Cameroon, we have really great soil that is suitable for the cultivation of all sorts of crops such as plantain, corn, beans, groundnuts, cocoa, cassava, banana, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, cabbage etc (just to name a few). This just goes to show that there is a very wide variety of foodstuff in my country, so you can just imagine all the wonderful types of food that is being prepared here😁.

I'm sure that nearly everybody who has ever lived in Cameroon that they have gone to the farm, or they know someone who goes to the farm. I myself used to always go to the farm with my family during the holidays and during the farming seasons. It was tiring but fulfilling work.

Three Changes I want for Cameroon.

nane line breaker.png

1. Anglophone crisis.

I'm sure that most of you don't know this but there is a serious Anglophone crisis that has been going on in the North West Region(where I live) and the South West Regions of Cameroon and it has been ongoing for close to 7 years now. This started off like a little strike but it escalated and turned into a battle between the English regions and the French Regions of Cameroon. There are so many casualties to this crisis that include the loss of countless lives of innocent civilians, military of both sides, loss and total stop of educational facilities in areas, displacement of countless people especially from the villages, imprisonment, chaos, ghost towns, kidnapping, raping and so on and so forth. It is really a shame that up till now the government of Cameroon lets this war go on. People are suffering and being driven from their lives, wives, families, jobs, houses, villages etc.

If I had the power to change Cameroon, I will immediately stop the Anglophone crisis and bring peace between the anglophones and the francophones of the nation.

2. Social amenities.

Most of the social amenities which citizens enjoy from the government such as drinking water, electricity, good roads etc are not being provided in an effective way. It goes without saying that electricity is not constant in Cameroon until the point where there are schedules of when there will be electricity and when there won't. It is really a shame. Drinking water comes almost 5 days a week and that is when things are great. The roads may be built this month but by next month, they are already shattered and broken with water gutters being made. Are these really good roads?

If I could change something in my country, it will be to provide quality social amenities for the citizens of the country.

3. Introducing smart payment methods in commercial facilities and businesses in general.

One of our greatest weaknesses in Cameroon is "change"(balance) when we buy something in a store or the market. But imagine if you go to the store and instead of you looking around for change to give the sales person, you could instead easily pay them using a smart technological payment method on your smartphone such as the use of crypto currencies like Steem. Payments using cryptos and blockchain technology is fast and also very secure. It reduces unnecessary movement and discussions.

If I could change something in my country, it would be to incorporate the use of smart payment methods for transactions in.

Thank you @pelon53, i would really love to see the day this crisis comes to an end and we stop the persecutions

Thank you for your sweet words and well wishes, i hope it happens that way too

You just explained everything about our beautiful country
Cameroon is so diverse and filled with very happy and friendly people. I'm sure if not of the crisis and social problems coupled with unemployment we should have a very strong country.

Nevertheless we still have good features. We all hope the changes we want to see in our country come to pass someway somehow.

Good content!

Yes you are right! Cameroon has so much potential and resources that if explioited in the right way, could really lead to economic development and growth

Thank you for replying

You are welcome 🤗

This is great view about our good and bad of our country. I really do wait for the day that the Anglophone crisis will be no more. Also, the issue of balance is really terrible. We do need smart payment methods.

Great entry here.

Thank you for sharing your view. The day this anglophone crisis ends someone has to go out and celebrate sha because it has definitely not been easy

Imagine using smart payment for all your transactions, wouldn't that be amazing?

See. Serious celebration. But we're so traumatised the day might unintentionally end up as a ghost town😂😂.

That will be so great. No more “I have 200 inside 1000”😂
