Origin of Arabs

Assalamu Alaykum, helloo my fellow Steemians and members of the honorable community Steem Pakistan. I have been quite busy these days reading a lot of history books and memorizing the glorious Quran as well as doing a lot of other domestic chores. I would to tell you some of things I have understood on the origin of Arabs and their tribes with reference to Islamic evidences especially the glorious Quran and historical facts.

Now let’s get started

Arabs are ancient tribes that are traced back in their generations to Sam son of prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) who is widely acknowledged as the first message of Allah (S.W.T). Arabs are respected people and were sometimes widely believed to be of Abrahamic origin, that is from prophet Ibrahim especially the one that lives in Hejaz in the modern Saudi Arabia. Likewise, Arab have their culture of rearing camels, cattles, they show hospitality to guests and tried to fulfill promises made among themselves though during Jahilliyah(Ignorance) period they worship rocks, idols, sun and they are mostly pagans some even bury female children alive before Islam came and corrected all these evil practices through our beloved prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Arabs are widely believed to be of three basic origins which are as follows:

Arabul-Baaidah ( The extinct Arabs)
Arabul-Haaribah (Sons of Yahrub bin Yashjub)
Arabul-Mustahribah (Non-Arab that later become Arab)

Lets go their explanation one after the other

ARABUL-BAAIDAH

Arabul- Baaidah is an Arabic word which means the perished or the extinct Arab tribes of the ancient times. Some of these tribes gone into extinction due to endless wars among themselves while some were destroyed and perished by Allah the most high due to their disbelief and worshipping of idols such as the tribe of Haad and Thamuud.

Prophet Hud was sent to Haad tribe and prophet Saalih was sent to Thamuud most of the people in this tribe did not belief in their prophet and so were destroyed by Allah and as a result of that they become extinct and no longer exist on earth surface.

This can be found in glorious Quran at suratul Haaqah from verse 1 to verse 8

“In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.”
1. “The Reality.”
2. “What is the Reality?”
3. “What will make you understand what the Reality is?”
4. “Thamood and Aad denied the Catastrophe.”
5. “As for Thamood, they were annihilated by the Overwhelming.”
6. “And as for Aad; they were annihilated by a furious, roaring wind.”
7. “He unleashed it upon them for seven nights and eight days, in succession. You could see the
people tossed around, as though they were stumps of hollow palm-trees.”
8. “Can you see any remnant of them?”Source

In conclusion, how these tribes were destroyed by Allah was mentioned in the Quran such as Al-Ahraaf and some other Surahs in the Quran.

ARABUL-HAARIBAH

These tribes of Arabs are the fore-children of a man called Yahrub bin Yashjub son of Qahtaan. This tribe are sometimes referred to as Qahtaanis , they mostly inhabit Yemen in the ancient times.

Some of them can be found in the Hejaz, Shaam and some even spread to Egypt till they occupy every city within the Arabian Peninsula and they inhabit those areas, some among the sub-tribes or smaller generation among this tribe is the Amyam and Jarham.

The jarham came to Makkah and inhabit the place with the family of Prophet Ibrahim peace be upon him.
As for his origin is controversial as some historians believes he was one of the descendant of the extinct Arabs.

ARABUL-MUSTAHRIBAH

Mustahribah is an Arabic word which means ARABISED or the act of becoming an Arab. This occurs with the family of prophet Ibrahim who lives in Makkah at that time because initially they were non-Arab speakers and do not understand Arabic at all but they learnt Arabic from the Arabs that came to live with them in Makkah at that time.

This is so because prophet Ibrahim which is the father of prophet Ismail is not among the son or descendant of Yahrub bin Yashjub the fore-father of Haabirah Arabs but it is among the descendent of Arkashafashd son of Sam and Sam is the son of prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) and due to this chain of descendancy, that is why prophet Ibrahim is not known to be an Arab.

As for prophet Ibrahim (PBUH), he was born in a city called Baabil which in IRAQ, and he speaks the language of the Saryanites who are the residents of that city and also he speaks Kalhaanite language when he went to Sham.

Sham is believed to made up of four countries in this modern day which are:
Palestine, Syria , Jordan and Lebanon.

Now, as for Ismahel son of prophet Ibrahim, he became Arabised by living among the Qahtaanis the Arab of Yemen in Makkah, the family of Prophet Ibrahim were the first to inhabit Makkah and later came there to live with them the smaller tribe of Jarham of the Qahtaanis of Yemen after taking permission from them. Ismahel learnt the Arab language from this tribe and became well tutored in it and became familiar with its literature as well and as well got married from this tribe.

He also teaches his son and family this language and this is how it become known and spread among his generations.
Amomg his generation were the Adnaani tribe of Arab who inhabit Hejaz and Makkah in the ancient times.

So this is how Arabs and their language spread across the geographical areas in the Arabian peninsula from time immemorial, though a lot of revelations and histories were written as regards Arab origin but this is among most common ones.
