PART:-•••••16...

All these positions were held by Qusi. Qusi's first son was Abdul Dar, but instead of him, his second son Abdul Manaf had reached a position of honor and power during Qusi's lifetime.

Therefore, Qusi said to Abdul Dar that although these people have surpassed you in honor and power, I will make you equal to them. Therefore, Qusi bequeathed all his positions and honors to Abdul Dar. That is, the state of Darul-Landwi, the hijab of the Kaaba? Luwa, Siqayat and Fadah, everything was given to Abdul Dar. Since Qusi was not opposed in any work and nothing he said was rejected, rather his every move was considered obligatory, both during his life and after his death. Therefore, after his death, his sons upheld his will without any dispute. But when Abd Manaf died, his sons quarreled with their cousins, the sons of Abd al-Dar, over these positions. As a result, the Quraysh split into two groups and were on the verge of war, but then they raised the voice of peace and divided these positions among themselves. Thus, the positions of Saqayat and Rafada were given to Banu Abd Manaf. And the leadership and hijab of Dar al-Nadwah were in the hands of Banu Abd al-Dar. Then Banu Abd Manaf cast lots for the positions they had obtained, and the lot came out in the name of Hashim bin Abd Manaf. Thus, Hashim managed Saqayat and Rafada throughout his life. However, when Hashim died, his brother Muttalib succeeded him, but after Muttalib, his nephew Abdul Muttalib bin Hashim - who was the grandfather of the Prophet - succeeded him. He held this position and his descendants succeeded him until, when the era of Islam came, Hazrat Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) held this position.

Apart from these, there were some other positions that the Quraysh had divided among themselves. Through these positions and arrangements, the Quraysh had established their own small government, or rather a government-like administration, whose official institutions and structures were somewhat like those of parliamentary assemblies and institutions today. The outline of their positions is as follows:

1- Issar ……….. that is, the guardianship of the arrows that were placed near the idols for divination and fortune-telling. This position was held by Banu Jamh.

  1. The system of finance ……….. that is, the management of the offerings and sacrifices that were offered to the idols, as well as the decision of disputes and cases. This work was entrusted to Bin Saham.

  2. Shura ……….. This honor was held by Banu Asad.

  3. Ishnaq ……….. that is, the system of blood money and fines. This position was held by Banu Taym.

  4. Uqab... That is, carrying the national flag. This was the job of Banu Umayya.

  5. Quba... That is, managing the military camp and leading the cavalry. This fell to Banu Makhzum.

  6. Embassy... The position of Banu Adi...
