Hello everybody, happy new year to everyone. I am so much delighted to make my first write up for the year. Thank God for life and for sustaining us till now. I also appreciate @hisgeneral and @xkool24 for their support, God bless you.
As the year is starting, it is important to work together as a team in order to create and make huge success. As a adage rightly states that a tree cannot make a forest and that is the reason why I am writing on the topic that is Team Spirit.
I will start by explaining the meaning of a team.
A team are group of people or individual who has common interest, goals and objectives and works together in order to achieve it.
Team doesn't necessarily mean group of individuals or group of persons. There can be people in a group but they do not have common interest neither do they have common goal. Since they do not share the same Idea but have different ideas and goals, they will never work as a team.
Before one can say they are team they must be people who are working together to ensure that they achieve their collective goal and not individual.
For instance, in football game, their are group of people who have one goal, which is to win the game, everyone in that group are working together at different levels to see that the achieve their goal to win the game; that is called a team.
On the other hand, spirit is an important principle, energetic or living force that dwells in every living thing which drives and propels their actions and affects their behaviours and character.
That is to say that team spirit is the force that propels one to work together in order to achieve a set goal.
Team spirit goes beyond working and relating with co-employees or colleagues but also extends to interacting and relating with customers and clients.
People who have the team spirit quality shows good leadership and managerial skills.
In developing team spirit skill or quality, the following must be put into consideration:
Communication is the ability to interact with one another either verbal or non-verbal means.
When people are able to interact with each other, they can be able to share views and ideas together and this will help in developing team spirit.
As a team leader, you should be able to set your goals. In setting your goal, it will help the team to work together in order to achieve the set goal.
Nevertheless, when the team leader fails to set a goal, it will make the team members to work differently based on their personal goal which will therefore, discourage team spirit.
In a team, people has different roles to play to see that their goal is being achieved. These roles has to be properly explained to team members in order to avoid confusion which will affect the team.
The mind is the engine house that propels every action. For you to develop a team spirit, your must build your mind towards positivity. Never see anything as impossible but believe that all things are achievable.
As a team leader, it is important to always discuss about the success of the team as this will help to encourage and strengthen the team members for greater success.
Any individual or organisation that has no rules and regulations guilding them will be prone to misconduct, danger, failure etc.
So, it is very important to make rules and regulations that will guide a team towards achieving its desired goals and objectives.
Bearing in mind that we have individual differences and that no one is perfect, it is therefore very expedient to tolerate and accommodate one another.
In a team where everybody complains about each other, you will agree with me that that organisation is bond to fail but we should look beyond each others weakness and focus on the strength as this will help to work together effectively as a team.
Just as a tree cannot make a forest and no man is an island, so one man cannot achieve success without others.
Therefore it is very important that we learn how to work together as team members in order to achieve or add to our success history.
