A Day of Peace ☸️

On May 16th, our school organized a special sil program at the Mahamewnawa Dhammachethiya Buddhist Monastery. It was a special day where students from grades 1 to 12 participated, bringing a sense of unity and excitement to the event. The atmosphere was lively as the girls, dressed in their beautiful half sarees, and the boys, in their white shirts and sarongs, gathered for the program. The sight of everyone in traditional attire added to the beauty of the day.

I must tell you that the place is very beautiful.

The teachers took on the challenging role of keeping the students calm. The hall was big enough to sit everyone. But it was decided that the older students from grades 8 to 12 would be separated from the little ones, making it easier to manage both groups. The older students were more settled and easier to handle.

Parents played a vital role by providing alms for the event. Their support and generosity ensured that everyone had what they needed throughout the day.

For me, attending this Sil program was a trip down memory lane. I hadn't participated in such a program in years, not since my days at Dhamma School, where I used to attend the sil program every month. This event brought back many fond memories and was a refreshing experience after so many years.

Overall, the Sil program was a valuable experience for everyone. It gave us a chance to reflect and bond as a community, which is very important in our busy lives. The day reminded us all of how important it is to be mindful, compassionate, and together.
