Samanala Lake

in Steem Sri Lanka10 months ago

I hope all of you are doing well. After a long time, I had the opportunity to write something in this Steem Sri Lanka Community.
so, two weeks ago, I had a chance to visit Samanala Lake with my friends. The water level in the lake has been significantly reduced due to the ongoing drought in the Belihuloya area.

The climate here is exceptionally hot due to this prolonged drought. While I'm not a professional photographer, this place has become increasingly appealing for photography enthusiasts.

Many people are flocking to this location to witness the new situation at Samanala Wawa. Among the sights, we can observe the ruins of a temple, and I have attached some photographs for your reference.

Samanala Wawa spans across the Belihuloya River and the Walawa River, surrounded by dense forests and set against the backdrop of magnificent mountains. This reservoir plays a vital role in facilitating irrigation for local farmers and powering an electrical generation plant.

I'd like to share something unique with you all. You might have heard the song 'Samanala Wawa' sung by the talented artist Karunarathna Diulgane. The lyrics go, 'Samanala wawa purawannata belihul oya gala awith.' This beautiful song not only encapsulates the essence of Samanala Wawa but also weaves in elements related to the University of Sabaragamuwa. Interestingly, the song's content revolves around a love story.

In any case, the local farmers are anxiously awaiting rainfall as they desperately need water for their agricultural endeavors. Furthermore, many wild animals rely on this lake as a water source, so they too are eagerly anticipating rain.

Rain has started these days but it will take some time to fill this lake.

It's a beautiful song. I love it.

I couldn't visit samanala lake, even though i was a student in the uni for a short period of time. One day I will visit.

I think it's a great place to visit. Try to get to the dam. But it needs permission from CEB

This song is one of my favorite.
