Sri Lanka cricket team leaves the island
The Sri Lanka Cricket team has left the Katunayake International Airport this morning (23) for the West Indies Cricket Tournament.
After arriving in Doha, Qatar, the Sri Lankan cricket team will be flown to the West Indies by another flight.
All-rounder Dasun Shanaka has been appointed as the captain of the Sri Lanka Twenty20 cricket team for the three-match series against the West Indies.
Sri Lanka Cricket has appointed Dimuth Karunaratne as the captain of the ODI team.
Dasun Shanaka, who captained the T20I team, previously led Sri Lanka to a 3-0 victory in the three-match T20I series in Pakistan in 2019.
Although fast bowler Lahiru Kumara was included in the initial squad of a number of young players, he missed the tournament due to the Covid 19 virus infection.
Lahiru Kumara has been replaced by fast bowler Suranga Lakmal, according to Sri Lanka Cricket.
