This time, my vote goes to...

in Steem Sri Lanka2 months ago

Last presidential election, I voted for Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksha with high aspirations, as did many others, and he won with 6900,000 votes. However, within a year, everyone realized that their decision was wrong, but there was nothing we could do because it was too late.

He was unable to handle the country's expenditures as the 2 years passed because of the ban on chemical fertilizers, the COVID-19 epidemic, and reduced taxes that were government income. Almost every decision that Gotabaya took was wrong. Therefore, the country collapsed.

So far, I have voted in numerous elections, including the presidential, parliamentary, Palath Sabha, and Pradeshiya Sabha. My vote is a floating vote because I do not support any one party. My parents were the same; I recall them saying that they voted for various parties, such as Mr. S W R D Bandaranaike, Mr. Dudley Senanayake, and Mrs. Sirimavo Bandaranaike. Therefore, all my siblings’ votes are floating votes. This time, some have opted to vote for Ranil Wickremesinghe, some for Sajith Premadasa, and others for Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

When my siblings asked me who I was voting for this time, I said Mr. Namal Rajapakshe.😁 They know I'm joking, but no one knows who I will vote for.

Last time, I had high hopes for Mr. Gothabhaya Rajapakshe, but I later became worried about my vote. Thanks to Aragalaya, we have still our country; otherwise, we don't know what would have occurred. This time, I don't want to worry about my vote because I know everyone is fighting for their own benefits, not ours. So, this time my vote is a damaged one.

I'm not going to avoid it since it's my privilege, so I'll go to the polls and make it a spoiled vote. Then, one day, I'll be happy that I didn't vote for these selfish parties. If not, I may worry about my vote in the future.

I understand that no one can change our country until the people in my country change. If we cannot adapt to become better people, then how can we change society? Before pointing fingers at others, I believe we should first improve our own attitudes.

Let's see who wins the election and who transforms our country into heaven. Anyway, I am confident that I can be proud of myself because I am not contributing to the ruin of my country.
