The way we welcomed our precious gift.

My grandson's expected due date was September 27th, but he surprised us by arriving on September 22nd. On September 23rd, both my husband and I were excited to welcome him into his house. Therefore, we started the day early to set up his room because we hadn’t yet reserved a room for him.

Morning

I headed to the kitchen and prepared imbul kiribath for our breakfast. Then I quickly finished all my routine. After breakfast, we headed to their house to clean the entire house. While I focused on the baby's room, my husband took care of the garden, cutting the plants, sweeping the area, and cleaning it. I mopped the entire house to get rid of any germs and dust. I used wet clothes and cleaned all the items of furniture. Then I thoroughly cleaned the room using Dettol to ensure it the clean and fresh for our baby.

Afternoon

When I contacted my son what time they'd arrive, he replied it might be in the evening. As lunchtime approached, we returned home to prepare it. For lunch, I made rice and curry, which is our main food. After having our lunch and taking a short break, we returned to there to continue cleaning.

In the afternoon we decided to decorate our baby’s room with balloons and crepes. My husband bought everything, including balloons and crepes. While I was blowing the balloons, my husband hung them on the room's entrance door. Next, I decorated the cot with colored crepe to give it a festive appearance. I arranged the bed using comfortable bedsheets and pillowcases.

After preparing everything neat and clean, I headed to their kitchen to prepare dinner for them. As my daughter fed her baby, I arranged a nutritious dinner for them, since my daughter feeding her baby.

Evening

While we were looking forward to their arrival with impatience, they arrived later than expected due to delays by their insurance company. When that precious moment arrived, both my husband and I ran to the car, with the hope of embracing our baby. I will never forget that happiest moment when I embraced my grandson close to my heart. Following tradition, we welcomed them at the entrance door with a glass of water. We were all in a happy mood, because of our special gift for our family.

After spending so much time with the baby, we all sat down to dine together. We were all delighted and despite how painful it was to go, we returned home with the hope of seeing him early the next day. I went to bed dreaming about our newborn child with the happiest heart.
