Old is Gold.
My dear friends, my daughter-in-law is expecting a baby boy at the end of this month. They have now prepared for all of the stuff, including clothes, basins, pillows, pillow coverings, bed sheets, and other necessities. Their color theme is gray even if the baby is a boy.
When they were looking for a cot for their infant to sleep in, I advised them to choose something made of wood rather than a new cot from the market, as they are not durable. And also, I promised to bear the expenses for that.
I gave my younger sister the cot that my children used about 20 years ago. This was the one that my husband’s elder brother's daughter used. One day, when we were looking through our old photo albums, my son noticed the cot he used. Then he inquired about its current location. I said I gave it to Chuty Mammi, but it might not be suitable for right now. Then he asked me to check with my sister.
When I enquired, she replied that it is stored in the rubbish hut and may not be usable at times. My son requested to send images of the part of the cot.
Two days later, she sent the images and stated that three pieces were damaged but the others may be used. My son, after looking at the images, suggested that I repair it. His idea was that what the father utilized must be used by the son.
Later, my son brought it from my sister's place and disassembled the entire cot. Then my husband and son worked together to remove the damaged part and replaced it with a new part made of wood purchased from the shop. When reassembled, it gave a beautiful look. They then painted it white, even though their theme is grey.
My son informed me that he would install a black and white sticker in the spot where a sticker was previously placed. It cost only Rs, 5000/- for repair, but it has an elegant look.
If we can put little effort, time, and money we can reuse our old products instead of purchasing new ones. My son proved that the old is gold, and I admire their dedication to constructing such a beautiful cot. I am extremely proud of them.
