Dengue is a virus which occur by mosquitoes. It is rapidly spread between the people who live in Africa, South Asia and Western Pacific Island. This is a deadly virus. Normally millions of dengue cases report in each year. Dengue virus occur by two types of mosquitoes. Such as; Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes.

Mostly they lay their eggs in clean water. Because they unable to live in unclean water. Also, four types of steps are included in their life cycle.

1. Eggs to Larvae (2–3 days)
2. Larvae to Pupa (4-5 days)
3. Pupa to Adult (1-2 days)

How to Identify Dengue Fever?

If we have high fever after 3 days, we should be do a dengue test. Then we can be identified dengue virus from that dengue test.

How to communicable dengue virus?

1. By uncovered water tanks and useless wells
2. By frequent water gathering places
3. By improperly putting some items into the environment (Ex: Yogurt cups & etc.)

What are the symptoms of the dengue fever?

The dengue virus has several symptoms. Those symptoms are similar to those of Covid-19. Therefore, if a patient is found to have these symptoms, a dengue test and a PCR or rapid antibody test should be performed to identify them. Then we can identify whether it is Dengue fever or Covid-19.

Symptoms:

1. High Fever
2. Vomiting
3. Loose motion
4. Headache
5. Body pain (Ex: Muscle and Joints of our body)
6. Rash

What are the treatments for Dengue fever?

Actually, no any specific treatment for dengue fever. But some countries use a vaccine for dengue virus. But I think it’s not available in Sri Lanka. But when you are exposed to this virus, doctors recommend the following things.

1. Drink as much fluid as possible
2. Should rest
3. Take painkillers every 6 hours if needed
4. Eat as much bloody food as possible (Ex: Polos)

How to prevent from Dengue virus?

1. Mosquito breeding places should be cleaned
2. Should be covered useless water tanks and wells
3. Should be properly dispose garbage items

If so, the spread of the dengue virus can be minimized.

These days the dengue virus is spreading rapidly. In fact, I was exposed to the dengue virus. So, you all need to be protected from the dengue virus. And the covid-19 virus.
