Let Me Glow in Every Dark Day of Your Life | A Valantines Day DIY Gift Idea

Valentines' day is coming, so you may need different gift ideas. Same here. This time, I decided to make something useful than a card. After checking for some ideas in youtube, finally I came up with the idea of making a jar candle.

I tried to find some feasible materials that I can find from home.

I used a jar, some white candles, beads, dried flowers, glitter dust, pastel color pieces to color the paraffin wax and some soap pieces as I didn't have any other good fragrance source.

Making the candle is very easy. First I put some white candles into an aluminum cup and started to double boil it. With no time paraffin becomes liquid.

When it started to get melt I added some pastel pieces. I used Pentium 2000 pastel and it also started to melt and mix with liquid paraffin. I added fragrance as well. First I added some liquid paraffin and pasted dried flowers around the walls. But later when I pour more candle wax it disappeared.

Then I added a 1cm later of candle wax and placed the candlewick. The candle wick is taken from a melted candle. The difficult part of this work is keeping the candle wick steadily. I used multiple colored layers till it fills to the lid.

Making stickers

I wanted to paste a sticker with a sentence. I wanted to say,

"Let Me Glow in Every Dark Day of Your Life"

First I made a printout of the quote. Then pasted a regular sellotape on the text. Then I cut the square using a scissor and plunged the piece of taped paper into water. After 30 sec, I removed the white background using my finger and only the black text remained on the tape. Then I pasted the same tape on the jar.

Finally, it was time to wrap this simple gift. I had a box of a cube shape. I added a candle jar, some stickers and the rock I took from Young Gin River during my sinharaja visit. I know he will love this stupid small gift!
