Most beautiful hiking place in Sri Lanka –Aadara Kanda(Lover’s Peak)(Paraviyangala)
Lover’s peak is one of the most beautiful and interesting mountains in Sri Lanka. It is situated near Belihuloya in the Sabaragamuwa province. This mountain is also known as paraviyangala. The peak is very famous among tourists for camping.
Hike to “Aadara Kanda” is my first hiking adventure. Because it is the nearest hiking place for me. We started our hike at 8 am. The hike to lover’s peak stands at an average on the scale. We have to pass lots of bushes, small rivers and also small mountains to reach the top.
It was so much windy on the top and cold climate. But the top of the mountain is one of the beautiful viewpoints. We can see Sabaragamuwa university, nonperial estate, part of Horton plains, some mountains like “hawagala” etc.
We took our lunch at the top of the mountain. There was a small water stream near the top of the mountain. It is very useful for camping.
We spent some time on the top of the mountain and we started to come back home. This was my first adventure.
But nowadays hiking Aadara Kanda is prohibited due to the environmental pollution by the visitors.Because it is famous and that cause to come more and more visitors. This leads to polluting water resources and the environment. Also a few years later there was a huge lands slide in the mountain. This also causes destroy the footpath.
But the beauty of the mountain remains unchanged. So we should protect our environment for our future.

some universities choose adarakanda for their 1st year batch trip. we went to hanthana. actually, I didn't enjoy it. It was raining whole day. was extremely cold and it was 3 am when we get down.

Yes akke ,Aadara kanda is very famous among university students...due to covid pandemic our 1 st batch trip was cancelled, I think 1 batch trip is the best oppatunitiy to communicate and identify each other, so due to that i think it is called Aadara Kanda, and also some time some one can find true love...🙊
