SSL Charity Phase – 3 | Project Anuradhapura | 20% for SL Charity

Hi Steemians,

Here we are in the midst of Phase 3 of the SL-Charity event based around the Steem Sri Lanka Community. There have been Phases 1, and 2, featuring several events seeking families, people who need help, and also there have been a couple of events already held on phase 3. Since the day that Steem Sri Lanka announced a proposal as SL-charity, the members have been more than eager to participate in the event in these difficult times.

For this event, we’re thinking about moving on to the region of Anuradhapura for the first time of the project. This next event will be implemented by me, @thisarani96, and @champikawije65.

Selected Places – Kahatagasdigiliya, Isurupura, and Wijayapura (All around Anuradhapura)

Proposed Event – Select four families with school kids who have financial difficulties. Provide Books and some stationaries for kids and a pack of foods for the family to be a helping hand in the economic strain of the time.

Background of the Event

We selected the families based on their financial situations, and those who have school kids, especially talented ones, and also with parents who want to support their education. Here I’m going to brief you about the families we picked out to help with the event.

Family 01 – Live in the village Loolnewa, near Kahatagasdigiliya. Only three family members altogether, but the parents are mentally disabled, with a kid who’s going to school in Grade 02.

Family 02 – Again, living in Kahatagasdigiliya, five members altogether with three children. Both Parents are jobless, and the kids are in respectively 08, 04, and Pre-School grades.

Family 03 – Live in Isurupura, two children in the family with parents without a stable job. The elder son is about write the Grade 05 scholarship exam and is considered as one of the brightest students in the area, and the young daughter is studying in Grade 02.

Family 04 – Live in Wijayapura, not so far from the town. Four members in the family. The father faced an accident recently which caused him a mental broke-down and his wife to leave the family. Now the grandmother supports the two children by engaging in cleaning services.

We collected the details by contacting the head Thero of the temple in Isurupura, and through the information received from a friend in Kahatagasdigiliya. We created a pool with about ten families and selected the ones with the most in need.
