World Bee Day

20th of May is the world bee day. (yesterday was the world bee day. I wrote this yesterday .but I couldn't post it because of a technical error) According to the world bee day Agriculture faculty of University of Peradeniya organized a bee keeping program.
Many experienced people about bee keeping came there and gave us their experiences.
they taught us about two types of bees
they are honey bees and pollen bees. we mainly studied about about honey bees. Because they are the bees who making honey. Today we were taught about two Honey bees
1)" Apis cerena" (මී මැස්සා)

Apis cerana bees, also known as Asian honeybees, are a species of bees found in Asia. They live in colonies and have three types of bees: queen, worker bees, and male bees. The queen bee is the leader of the colony and lays eggs. Worker bees are females who perform various tasks like collecting nectar, building the hive, and caring for the larvae. Male bees, also called drones, mate with the queen. Each bee has a specific role and contributes to the functioning of the hive.

there are separate boxes to keep bees. Inside the boxes their are several parts to take honey, to keep baby bees.

1. "Apis dorsata" (බඹරා)
   Most of the people think (even I thought, until today) that animal was a dangerous animal. I was taught that it was false. yes it is real. They are herbivores insects. they do not bite us with out a reason. Most of the people gets afraid of that insect .But you can see how we hold this apis dorsata hive in those pictures.

we had good refreshments. first we had milk rice , kaum , plane tea . After all the lectures, we had a youghart with bee honey. It was amazing.

there were bee honey bottles to sell at various prices .I bought one bottle of bee honey

finally what I have to say is bees are innocent , active ,courageous insects. Those are the insects who pollinate flowers . there are no fruits with out bees. So we have to protect them
