Applying for Driver's lisence in srilanka.
After a very long time finally I decided to apply for my driver's license. Usually everyone one join a driving school and apply through them. So I also followed the same way.
First I selected a driving school. It's Thilina Driving school in Embilipitiya. After submitting initial documents and payments they starts the application process. I applied for scooter and car including training sessions., because of that the I have to pay around 32000 rupees. I don't know about the charges of other driving schools but I think within 2-3 years fees have increased significantly.
Step 01
After submitting original birthday certificate copy and Identity card copies they initiate the application process. Since they take care of it I didn't need to fill any application.
Step 02
Next step is doing the medical test . For that the nearest locations are Ratnapura and Hambantota. I went to Hambantota national Transport medical institute.Transport was freely provided so I didn't need to hesitate much. It was an easier process. They basically check vision, height, weight, blood group etc. Here the critical part is vision test if you wear spectacles it'll be mentioned in the lisence and so it's a must to wear spectacles. Actually good vision is a must to drive safe but people tend to ignore wearing spectacles so this might have be a reason for increase of accident rates as I think. The fee for medical test Is 1500 LKR.
Step 03
After getting the medical test, then we have to face the exam. In this exam our knowledge of road signs, driving ethics are There's a center in Embilipitiya for the exams and that was an ease for me. Over 600 people sat for exam.I got 37/40 for my paper . There are enough videos on YouTube that we can follow. Also the driving school held a one day session before the exam.
After completing all these steps. They issue a Learner's permit. It's fee was 1500 LKR. Its valid for 1.5 year
After 3 months we can give trials and obtain our driver's license.
I have my driving trails on March 2025. This is a quiet challenge for me because I don't have previous driving experience. Anyway I count this as a goal of my life 😊.

Im on the same track. I still didnt collect my learners permit though. Im pretty nervous too, at the same time wanna see the end of this soon.

This is something I also wanna do, but feeling very nervous because I don't like it. I'm motivating myself only because it's a life skill.
I'm also nervous but yes it's better to have the driving lisence in case of emergency
