Adam's Peak Trail | 3rd Time

in Steem Sri Lanka5 months ago

Hello Everyone,

This article is about my last visit to Adam’s Peak. This is my 3rd visit to the place and 2nd visit of the two continuous years. For Sri Lankans, Adam’s Peak is not just a mountain; it is a holy place belonging to God Sumanasaman, blessed with the footprint of Gautama Buddha. Reaching Adam’s Peak is a hard adventure and requires some courage and dedication.

There are several ways to reach Adam’s Peak. The most famous and common way to reach is through Hatton, Nallathanniya. During my 3rd visit, I used this road, but there are two ways from Ratnapura road also. According to reviews of the people, Ratnapura via Erathna road is the most picturesque trail. The road is laid through the forest area covered with the unique flora and fauna.

It was a Friday morning, and I started my trip from Colombo for the station, and I took the morning 5.50 Badulla “Podi Manike” train. Badulla train is always too crowded; it's really hard to find a seat unless you book. And better days to travel this place during weekdays because weekends are filled with people, and on some days, it's very hard to reach the top.

One of my friends also joined me for this trip; she joined me at Kandy station. Around 3 pm, we reached Hatton station, and we had our breakfast and lunch together because until Hatton, we came by standing in the train, and the train was that much crowded.

Around 5, we reached Nallathanniya, and after freshening up from the “Seetha gangula,” we started the trail around 8 pm; we planned to reach around 1 pm. The area is very cold during the night, and I checked the temperature, it's around 15-17 degrees, and it's very hard with the wind coming from the top. There are lots of shops beside the road, and some fast foods are available there, but those foods are low in hygiene. So, we got some packet foods from Nallathanniya.

Around 12.30 in the morning, we reached the top, and we took one hour to complete the worshiping and waited for sunrise. In the morning, it was very hard to stay on the top during the night, sometimes there's heavy wind with freezing cold. Unfortunately, we were not able to catch the sunset due to cloudy weather, but the view from the morning rays caught my eyes. Last time also, I couldn’t able to catch the sunrise.

Afterward, slowly we started our trail back to Nallathanniya, and around 10, we reached Nallathanniya. This is the story about my 3rd visit. Planning to visit through the Erathna road from next time.
