Talk About Your Hobby/ Steem Sri Lanka 3G Contest Series / Week 5

Hobby means an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure.
I have three hobbies.

• Reading
• Writing
• Brushing up "Kesi"

Hence, I selected "Reading" out of these three, for this competition as it is my most favourite hobby.

"Reading" could be done in various ways. Not only readings are limited to printed & electronic versions of writings.We can read faces, features & behaviours of human beings. It is useful in our day to day life. 😊

• Reading faces ;
  Facial expressions could be specified as a mirror image of current emotional feelings of a person.It implies what he/she thinks about. By reading facial reactions (specially eyes) it could be realized the actual mental situation of a friend or someone at that particular moment.

• Reading behaviours;
  Some times I can understand my friends by the way they behave. For an example, when Someone talking to few friends, I have noticed that he/she looks several times at same person among them.Definitely that person is narator's most favourite person.

Reading palms is called "Palmistry". I don't know much regarding it.😊

• Reading features:
  This is called "Physiognomy".
  Haven't you met some couples having same features, same skin tone, body size etc.?
  For me; Yes. Two three times.
  It could be seen this similiority in their characteristics also. Apparently this type of couples are matching & loving each other.

In addition to these readings, I try to understand sounds & behaviours of pets (such as dogs, cats, birds etc.) also.

Do you know why dogs bark ? When "Kesi" frightens due to a stranger or a stray dog, it barks loudly & constantly while shivering. May be the same reason for snake/animal bites.

Usually I go around our home garden early in the morning in weekends.I inspect green environment around me, enjoy the way of laughing fresh flowers & newly grown green plants and get some photos also.

Anyhow, here I would like to describe about typical readings (printed & electronic versions) done by me when I have leisure time.

Cannot remember when I commenced this hobby. As per my mother, she had to relate a story or to read story books me daily. I could assume that it was a headache for my working mom. As per Amma; when she refuced to relate stories, I was used to read story books by myself loudly while turning pages one by one remembering page contents correctly as a parrat. That had happened when I was not able to read any single letter in alphabat.May be at age of three or four. It is funny, isn't it ?😊

Hence, since the age of three or four I read to date during past half century. I am a member of Public Library of MC, Anuradhapura also. I buy a lot of books from BMICH anually. In addition from book shops or order from online bookshops.

I cannot find a special time for reading printed & electronics versions. Some times while travelling in a vehicle, before go to bed at night, or any time I feel free.

I never selected this hobby. It occured automatically. There was a library cupboard full of novels, short story books & varoius types of magazines at "Mahagedara" which belonged to my father. Martin Wickramasinghe's, W.A. de Silva's, T.G.W. de Silva's & Piyadasa Sirisena's novels are among my sweet memmories.

There are so many advantages of various types of readings. Reading releases stress. It makes me comfort. Surely you have heard that " Reading maketh a full man." Knowledge we gain is very useful during throughout our life span.

I am sure that it opened me new doors. I was able to understand what is going around me, to make correct decisions at correct time etc.
Reading pursuaded me to write. Few years ago I wrote some articles named " Senehe Kolaya" to Notice Board of Arts Society at my work place.

Participated in several poetry & short story compititions & got some achievements also.

As well as I published a Sinhala Peotry Book named " Eka Vahala Yata" in year 2019.

Composing poems is one of my habbits & those are published in Steem Sri Lanka community. I use this oppotunity to pay my heartest gratitude for allowing me to write in my mothertongue.

So, I am sure that a hobby can change people a lot positively.😍
