UNIQUE FACTS ABOUT IGBO TRIBE

Just like i briefly highlighted earlier, the Igbo culture has so many unique tradition and way of life that made them so unique. First; business settlement, most Igbo business men do normally take people from their hometown (not necessarily their relation) to come over with them to the city to learn their business for certain amount of years depending on agreement and then the person in question is given money enough to start his own business. This process is continuous meaning that same boy that is settled will also do same by training someone else and settle him too. This is mostly

Secondly; New Yam Festival. The Igbos are know to be the first people who originated the new yam festival. The new yam festival is mostly done at the end of rainy season and it marks the end of a farming season and the beginning of a new one. It is celebrated by various kinds of entertainment including masquerade dance, cultural dance, and performance of ceremonial rites by the king. Yam and red oil sauce is the main food served on the event, it is an event that signifies fulfillment, prosperity, culture and well-being of the people.

Thirdly; Their wedding. Getting married in igbo land just like other tribe involves payment of bride price by the groom. Traditional wedding in Igbo tribe is called "igbanku", the wedding usually takes place in the bride father's house. In the cause of the event, the bride will take fresh palm wine gotten from trees in the fathers home town and search for the groom that will be sitted in the occasion, she will give the palm wine to the groom, the groom will drink, put se cash inside the cup, and then they will both go to where the parent are sitted to receive parental blessings.
